Flashed XL2720Z V5 via Linux, upgrading from V4.

Absolutely no changes anywhere at least anything I can see, except the fw version string updated.

This time it didn't even overwrite all my profiles with factory defaults (thank god) like going from v2 to V4 did (not surprising since V2->V3 had profile changes like ability to change LBL being recalled properly).

AMA high->AMA low toggle still reverts back to default AMA high calibration when any strobe setting or brightness value is changed (identical to V3 and V4). AMA low toggle still does not apply to blur reduction off.

100% certain 50hz single strobe still hard power cycles the monitor, too (Unless a VT Tweak is used to force 60hz pulse widths).

Was probably a 1 line bugfix or something that no one would notice.

Why can't they just enable freesync compatibility and call it a day? (didn't AMD themselves say that older monitors could be freesync compatible with FW updates? and one company said they would update their firmware to add freesync if people sent in their monitors? (Forgot what company that was and I don't even know if they kept their promise or not)) Then I'd have a miniature XL2730Z without the broken strobe settings!!

BTW I sent you a PM:
Can you ask your contact at Benq if they can make the XL2720Z freesync compatible?

The XL2730Z has broken strobe settings (wont strobe correctly at any refresh rate under 120hz......even 110hz strobes out of sync at 120hz phase), so it would be rather nice to have a freesync monitor with a properly working full range 60-144hz blur reduction. That realtek scaler in the XL2730Z was a HUGE step back from the mstar scaler...even if the entire reason our VT tweaks worked in the first place was how Lightboost interacted with the scaler (VT 1502 was simply what Lightboost used internally, which is why the same scanlines appeared and why Lightboost 120hz had the EXACT SAME Crosstalk as Benq blur reduction 120hz + VT 1500 + strobe phase 000 + strobe duty 009..pixel for pixel !

I don't care if it's a "void your warranty at risk" test firmware...we can recover our firmwares with Linux or the Mstar ISP unit anyway!

Please check the other threads on strobe duty/phase. This has been answered countless times. If you are just starting out, keep strobe phase at 000 and lower duty to the point where you get a screen that is bright enough for you to accept while having enough blur reduction applied. The lower the duty the more blur reduction you get but the darker the screen. Please read the other threads.

on XL2720Z, do NOT go under contrast 40 unless using AMA Low toggle trick. Going under contrast 40 will turn black to white transition (ghost pattern) from clear to white glowing spectral pattern--very ugly!! With "normal" AMA high (not toggle), contrast 43 is correct.

if using AMA Low trick, stay under contrast 15 for best quality.
AMA low: 1) Turn blur reduction ON, 2) Move slider AMA premium/off then back to AMA high, press enter. OR, if already on high, press enter once (highlight High) then press button #4 (back/cancel) to set AMA recalibrate to Low. (this is undocumented setting).

AMA low must stay under contrast 20, or black to white transition has too much normal ghosting (black copy effect instead of "white copy effect")

AMA low is only blur reduction on--ask Benq to include it for MBR off, don't know why they don't include it....

Only XL2720Z has this toggle (AMA low).

I told you everything I know. Please read the other threads. And this thread isn't the place to discuss quality settings. Please search the other threads or make a new one.
