xl2720Z Can't use 1500 VT tweaks

Post by Sirslicey » 30 Jun 2016, 01:19

Hey y'all I just got my xl2720z due to Falkentyne's recommendation and i've just been trying to optimize all the features however one issue I have had is using the suggested vertical total tweak. I tried setting it to 1500 and it works, however after a few minutes the screen will start flickering, and it increases sporadically(as if the monitor were operating out of range) so I had to revert the timings back to manual. Any other suggestions for me? Am I doing something wrong?

For the record, I am using a "custom resolution" that is native res at 120Hz and it still has the issue. I am also using the DVI cable that came with the monitor and use a GTX 580

Thanks and this monitor kicks ass regardless. :D

Hey looks like I found the information I was looking for and the VT tweaks now work, so looks like I don't need help after all! Looks like I just needed to do my homework better

The most common cause of this "flickering" is using the wrong horizontal total and porch/sync values.
You should be using 2080 for HT and 48/3 and 32/5 for porch and sync.

please check my VT thread.

One thing, if you use a displayport cable, then you don't need the pixel clock patcher, and then you can use the 60hz VT tweak for 60hz (VT 1354) without getting a cable error. But you would need lower HT and VT at 120hz to keep the pixel clock under 360.00 MHz over displayport. At 360 MHz and higher, the color depth goes from 8 bit color to 6 bit color (all of this is in my VT thread).

Doesn't apply if ur using DVI.
