Is Benq utility still the best solution for console games?

I used the utility a couple years back and it's decent for console gaming despite the bottom and top having some ghosting, but I learnt to accept it.

How is the current tech? Have there been any new innovations or monitors that do a better job than the Benq strobe utility for consoles? Anything on the horizon?

The Benq strobe utility for consoles?
You should not be using the windows utility for consoles, especially if the consoles are at 60hz refresh rate.
The windows utility is capped at (IIRC) Strobe Phase 047, because it was designed specifically to be used in combination with 'Vertical Total' tweaks (VT 1354 @ 100hz, VT 1350@120hz, VT 1500 or VT 1502 at 100hz, and VT 1500 at 120hz).

The reason the windows utility is capped at strobe phase 047, is because a VT tweak reduces the maximum strobe phase the backlight strobing can accept, without the backlight shutting off. Without a VT tweak, it's Strobe Phase 100.

When you're playing on a console, you can't use a VT tweak in the first place, so you WANT A strobe phase of 100.
You can set strobe phase 100 using the SERVICE MENU of the monitor.

4) The service menu with the single strobe (For single strobing refresh rates lower than 100hz), strobe duty, strobe phase and other settings are holding button #4 for 5 seconds after powering on, or while powered off, on XL2420Z, XL2430T, XL2720Z and XL2730Z.

5) For the XL2411Z (also the older XL2411T), it's button #2 (down button) for 5 seconds with power off, instead of button #4, then press power on+button #2
Why Strobe Phase 100?
Strobe phase 100 has 1 frame LOWER input lag than strobe phase 000.
The drawback of strobe phase 100 is more crosstalk at the bottom of the screen, but no crosstalk at all at the top of the screen.

The drawback of strobe phase 000 is 1 frame HIGHER input lag, in exchange for lower crosstalk at the bottom of the screen, but some crosstalk will appear at the top of the screen as Strobe Duty is increased.

60hz has rather low crosstalk (half as much as 120hz) so for any 60hz gaming in which you can't use as VT tweak (e.g. consoles), you should seriously consider Strobe phase 100. Having 16.7ms of extra input lag with strobe phase 000 isn't really worth it.

Are you at 60hz?

The persistence at 60hz is 0.167ms per point of Strobe duty. So strobe duty 6 is 0.167 x 6 = 1.0ms.

because 60hz is 16.7ms. Persistence is equal to the refresh rate frame time divided by 100 ! :)

Increase strobe duty for more brightness but at the cost of more blur (less blur reduction).
Decrease strobe duty for more movement clarity (but dimmer image).
