BenQ uPNP driver cause stutter

Post by Nemayu » 20 Dec 2018, 01:19

I were experiencing bad stuttering for long time using BenQ Zowie XL2720 and it was similar with XL2411 few years a go.
If I remember correctly I fixed it few years a go on windows7 by simply installing newer/older onboard intel net driver or even did the same thing as today but I forgot about it and wasted time again. I were playing League of Legends and by that time my screen was freezing for short time while starting launcher until I fixed it.

So stutter happens when high net usage spike happens, like loading some specific heavy internet site or program and during gaming(every frame drop or small stutter hit screen smoothnes and responsivness much stronger than normal), online videos randomly drops frames.

I was able to replicate it on Windows7 by simply starting Opera. Screen stutter once everytime, while Opera is starting.
On Windows 10 Opera starts without any stutter but it doesn't mean it's fixed.
On Windows 10 it stutter everytime (sometimes harder, sometimes barely noticable) when I load this site(using Opera): https://www.ipla.tv/wideo/serial/Pierws ... 22c37b0527
But it's Polish site and video won't load if you are outside of Poland so you need to use VPN for test until I find other site. (Avast let you use VPN for 7 days for free)

So test look like that:
-Open Opera or provided site
-Move coursor around all the time while opera or site is loading and you should see one big coursor jump, eventually play movie on part of the screen and watch for short video freeze (SVP-Smooth Video Project provides video smoothnes test which makes any stutter very easy to notice).

Win10 fix:
-Open Device Manager (RMB on My Computer/This PC->manage)
-Press View (top bar), turn on Show hiden device
-Expand Monitors
-Uninstall Every Generic uPNP monitor and Zowie XL LCD if you already installed
*It's already fixed, but windows will automatically install driver back, so you need to perform next steps as a workaround.*
-Press Action (top bar), Scan for Hardware Changes
-Press RMB on new Generic uPNP monitor, then Disable device
-Press RMB again on the same Generic uPNP monitor, Update Driver, Browse my computer for driver software, point benq driver destination and press Next.
-When installing complete, press RMB on new Zowie XL LCD and Disable device.
*You can't skip any step*

Now stutter should be gone. Disabling only Generic uPNP monitor doesn't work, you need BenQ Driver: https://www.benq.com/en-us/support/down ... river.html

It can be driver conflict specific for my PC but there is still chance it's somehow wider problem, so feel free to test it.
