182 trick and valorant

Post by unsungunner » 01 May 2020, 14:08

Anyone playing valorant able to get it to recognize 182 hz? Everytime I load up the game it reverts it to my monitors natural 240hz?

Getting a game to use a preferred refresh rate is sometimes tricky.

Some games like CS:GO allows you to force the refresh rate.

For Valorant, there is no command line setting. You may want to use ToastyX CRU to try to create 182Hz using a slightly different resolution such as 1920x1078 instead of 1920x1080. Keep vertical total unchanged in the Custom Resolution Utility -- by remove 2 pixels from vertical resolution and add it to the vertical front porch or vertical back porch (this keeps pixel clock unmodified, keep horizontal scan rate rate unchanged)

That way, the only refresh rate available for 1920x1078 is a 182Hz refresh rate -- so when you switch to that resolution in Valorant, it automatically uses the 182Hz.

i had to delete all my 240hz refresh rates for 182hz to work

edit: remember to disable the vanguard anti cheat or all of your monitors will just go black and custom resolution utility won't work.
