xl2411 EDID DVI corrupt?

Post by havena » 28 Apr 2022, 20:12

Since few day DVI stuck at 640x480 (event in bios) or not detected. i think its after using DP to DVI or maybe after a bad 1070 GPU (not sure)
i try other cable/gpu etc. no change.
i flash firmware from v2 to v4 with VGA, but no change.

i finaly find EDID DVI start by A8. it must be 00 ? https://i.imgur.com/1Ihn8cZ.png
no problem with EDID on HDMI (I guess there is one EDID per input ?)

i try to write it with EDID writer by @ToastyX but "failed to write data"
i try with i2cset but "cant write".

i found ubuntu detect the display and its work great. maybe ubuntu bypass the corruption?

1. EDID is linked to input? (DVI / HDMI / VGA) ?
2. do u think my DVI EDID is corrupt and i need to fix it (start with A8?!) or other idea?
3. if yes, can i write XL2411Z without remove pin 7 on chip ? or i need to remove this for write it?

thx a lot for advice

ok so i search for info :

1. we have 1 EDID for each digital 24C02 chip
2. header is corrupt
3. i remove pin 7 from 24C02 chip and write the correct header = monitor work again !

BUT after unplug / reboot header is one more time corrupt. i fix it one more time (i dont solder the pin 7 in case corrupt comes back).
I use a band new DVI cable.

My GPU can cause this ?! :?:
My other monitor connected with DP to DVI can cause this ?
Windows can cause this ?
