When I change the persistence, only the brightness changes, without a change in clarity.
To determine if this is the case or not, try TestUFO Panning Map Test at 3000 pixels/second

Every 1ms increase in persistence translates to 1 pixel of motion blur per 1000 pixels/sec. Sometimes such small blur changes can only be seen in small fine details in ultra-fast motion.
