Is it possible to enable Gsync/freesync with PBP with SLI?

Post by liquidshadowfox » 28 Jan 2022, 21:53

I have a silly question, but would it be possible to have something like PBP (picture by picture) with Gsync/freesync enabled? Both inputs are coming from 2 similar GPUs (two 3090s in SLI for example) and rendering the same game. I'd imagine something would have to synchronize the 2 gpus writing to the frame buffer and ONLY output complete frames to the two outputs so that the monitor can freesync/gsync with the slower of the two inputs. Anyone give me an explanation why this wouldn't be possible? 3090s have implicit SLI disabled but you can still render half the image with one gpu and the other half with the other.
