Dyac2 is not compatible with Gsync. Pulsar is. Maybe it doesnt take a big hit on brightness also
Ok dyac2 is not compatible with gsync.
But why does a very competitive gamer need to worry about gsync?
Don't very high end competitive gamers only care about maximum fps, way higher than what the monitor can display, hence wouldn't gsync be irrelevant in that scenario?
Furthermore, wouldn't a very competitive gamer also want least latency, doesn't gsync add slight latency?
So I don't understand how the pulsar tech will be relevant when targeted at the competitive gamer? Or am I missing something?

Visibility is nr1 is games like PUBG. Gsync helps in smoothen out the image so enemy's cannot hide ( intentional or not) in the ripples on the screen. We have to see if Pulsar ads latency and if it can manage to activate it sub max 360hz/fps. Or to what degree in fights where frame drops can accure. The gassmaskguy video on the pg27aqnr site looks pretty sick. Could be marketing ofc.

I am actually considering the PG27AQDP now.
From what I can see and in the reviews, the 480Hz Oled seems to be very close to motion clarity of the 540hz TN.
LOL i just can't make up my mind.
I can't get both to try because in Australia we cannot return opened electronic goods.
OLED is faster, there's no debate to it.
Better contrast, better overall input lag (100% compliance = every transition is sub 2ms)
Only downside of OLED are DSC, subpixel layout, display scan-out brightness flicker (issue for some)
Here's the proof.

Your source shows the tn with blurred white dots thats a tn withouth strobe-based blur reduction. Where does it say it has DYAC2 or ULMB2 on?
It's a fact that TN with strobe-based blur reduction (e.g. ULMB, LightBoost, DyAc, etc) gives a more clear image then monitors that are based on framerate-based blur reduction ( like OLEDS). source
https://x.com/BlurBusters/status/181218 ... 13/photo/1
OLEDs are better for framerate-based blur reduction then TN panels no one denies that here ( plus oled is faster). It becomes a different story when u activate strobe-based blur reduction on a tn. Then it beats the framerate-based blur reduction of a OLED.

The xl2586x is a contrast machine. e-v-e-r-y --- s-i-n-g-l-e option the xl2586x has is there to create a contrast between the enemy and its surroundings including DYAC2. OLED monitors are not build that way. Sure its faster and it looks very clean like the game is intended to be seen. its just not a monitor to boost the contrast of enemies by a-n-y m-e-a-n-s necessary.

I find it strange that a TN panel is declared by you a contrast machine in terms of sniffing out enemies on screen, when OLEDs have infinite contrast and should there for be able to achieve this better.
Im not saying I don't believe you that the TN esports gaming panel is designed to do this for competative aspects, I just wish OLED manufacturers would offer options to be able to do the same!

If I turn DSC off I can only run the 422 colour like I said above. Can still run 540hz, nothing else changes, but the colour. Still 10bit too but I don't know what 10bit 422 is equivalent to
Interesting. the asus ony goes to 360hz 8 bit without dsc
Brother, I saw that you had the 540hz Asus and now you have the 540hz Zowie, I would like to ask a question. Is the panel on the Zowie also a bit grainy like the Asus and Acer? (I've had both and they're both like that, a very strange matte) Is the brightness very different from the dyac to the ulmb2? I have the 2566k and it is much brighter than the ulmb2, I can't use the ulmb because it is so dark. Did you see a lot of difference between the 2 monitors? Is it worth selling the Asus and getting the Zowie? thank you brother
I never really noticed any grain on the Asus but the Zowie has a sharpness slider that makes the image look way sharper then the Asus without any input lag. I like this feature a loth.
Yes, the brightness is much better on the Zowie with DYAC2 then the ASUS with ULMB2. This is a huge plus. I call it the A+ of this monitor ( DYAC2 is also fullscreen, not just the middle LIKE ULMB2). plus a vibrance slider that is really good as always on a Zowie but now the colors are better cause of the panel and now u can advance define each color there is if u like. the black equalizer is very good also, even better then before cause this monitor gets way brighter then the xl2566k producing more contrast in dark areas. This monitor makes u feel like a bloodhound where u can sniff out every enemy hiding.
Sometimes in Quake Live though I get the feeling that the ASUS was a bit just a bit faster. But I only played for 4 hours on Quake Live. In Quake Champions, Apex Legends, PUBG the Zowie slaps really hard. Harder then the ASUS def. edit I just played some Quake Live again and it slaps. it really does. no difference now between the ASUS speedwise.
David, I bought the 2586x a few days ago, I currently have it alongside the 248QP and 2566k. To be honest, I expected more from the monitor. In fact, the dyac 2 is very good and the brightness with it activated is much better than the ULMB2, the monitor also has good sharpness, but honestly I found the colors on this monitor very strange, the yellow is orange and even though the contrast is good, I prefer the 2566k image. The colors on the Asus are much more realistic with the color gamut display (white is really white, the colors are more vivid). I found it better both for playing and for everyday use. In fact I can feel that the Dyac 2 is smoother, but the difference in performance is questionable. Honestly, I prefer to use the Asus with ULMB disabled in normal mode (0 ghosting or overshoot). remembering that I only play pubg, I really liked the 2566k and I thought it would have a better image quality
. Another question, even using hdmi 2.1 I have a black ALT + TAB screen bigger than on the asus, in addition I only have the 499hz option, unlike the Asus that I have 500hz, do you know what it could be? I heard that at 500hz the 2586x didn't have a black screen on the alt tab. Anyway, I don't think it's worth paying 2x the price, despite the fact In gameplay the experience of this monitor is unique, but the colors are very disappointing (I saw a video that Pio pro player from Korea for PUBG made about the 2586x leaving the 2566k and he said the same thing regarding colors)

On the colors: make sure u use the right color profile. Rtings has one for example and make sure that u enable reference profile in the colorsection in the Nvidia ctrl panel. Also make sure u install the zowie driver in the panel properties in windows.

I can't create custom resolution and the alt tab is a very long black screen. Don't you really know what it could be? I've already updated to the latest driver and I've also used older drivers, I still can't create custom resolutions, not even at 360hz, not with displayport too. Is switching from game screen to desktop instantaneous for you?
I also play with high contrast, using 83 here on the 2586x, I used 87 on the 2566k. It's not that the colors are bad, they have better depth than the 66k, but the gamut seems strange, it's difficult to explain, the 248fp in g sync mode is much more pleasing to my eyes, and I don't think it's better at spotting the enemies on zowie's monitor, I found equivalents. Strangely, I have the feeling that the 2586x is more responsive than the Asus, I don't know if it's due to the effect of the dyac, but I have this impression despite the reviews saying that there is a delay.

No option to create a custom res in nivida ctrl panel is a nvidia driver issue. Try NVIDIA GPU Driver version: 546.33. I am not at home right now. I am not sure what driver I use atm.
But 546.33 should work if not let me know. Make sure the monitor itself is on the 500hz edid not the 540hz.
I also reccomend to use display drive Uninstaller to get rid of your old nvidia drivers. Make sure after reinstall you also activate zowie drivers and rtings colorprofile and active it in the reference option of the nividia ctrl panel.

This driver didn't work for me either, neither HDMI nor DP. With Asus I can normally do custom resolutions at 500hz.
