I also play on the 499hz mode cause I play on 1728x1080. I can't really help you with the alt tabbing issue unfortunately.

On the colors: make sure u use the right color profile. Rtings has one for example and make sure that u enable reference profile in the colorsection in the Nvidia ctrl panel. Also make sure u install the zowie driver in the panel properties in windows.
I play pubg also but like TGTLN i use extreme constrast settings for pubg. Def. Not realistic. Its about making the enemies pop as much possible. See the second part of
https://youtu.be/0wpokGq-KbM?si=kHIh9ceaWmM-k_uT
For Apex I use Itstimmys zowie settings for the most part.
Quake Live sometimes I play black and white except for the color green. ( enemies are green)
I can't create custom resolution and the alt tab is a very long black screen. Don't you really know what it could be? I've already updated to the latest driver and I've also used older drivers, I still can't create custom resolutions, not even at 360hz, not with displayport too. Is switching from game screen to desktop instantaneous for you?
I also play with high contrast, using 83 here on the 2586x, I used 87 on the 2566k. It's not that the colors are bad, they have better depth than the 66k, but the gamut seems strange, it's difficult to explain, the 248fp in g sync mode is much more pleasing to my eyes, and I don't think it's better at spotting the enemies on zowie's monitor, I found equivalents. Strangely, I have the feeling that the 2586x is more responsive than the Asus, I don't know if it's due to the effect of the dyac, but I have this impression despite the reviews saying that there is a delay.
No option to create a custom res in nivida ctrl panel is a nvidia driver issue. Try NVIDIA GPU Driver version: 546.33. I am not at home right now. I am not sure what driver I use atm.
But 546.33 should work if not let me know. Make sure the monitor itself is on the 500hz edid not the 540hz.
I also reccomend to use display drive Uninstaller to get rid of your old nvidia drivers. Make sure after reinstall you also activate zowie drivers and rtings colorprofile and active it in the reference option of the nividia ctrl panel.
This driver didn't work for me either, neither HDMI nor DP. With Asus I can normally do custom resolutions at 500hz.
I am home now. I use 547.17 on Windows 10.
If you still cannot make a 1728x1080 499hz custom res 547.17 on Windows 10 ( win 11 should work also) in the nvidia ctrl panel try the following:

0. Make sure to check if you use the HDMI 2.1. cable from Zowie that came with the monitor. Not some random HDMI cable.
1. Go to monitor Menu. Display- Display Mode. Check if its on full
2. Go to monitor Menu. System- Other Settings- EDID settings. Make sure its on 500Hz
3. Go to monitor Menu. System- EcoMode should be off
4. Download Display Driver Uninstaller from https://www.guru3d.com/download/display ... -download/ for example and install it. Dont run it yet.
5. Go Windows Run: type in: msconfig. Enter. Go to Boot tab. Enable save boot for your OS. Restart PC. you will be in save mode.
6. Run Display Driver Uninstaller Choose GPU. Uninstall No reboot. When the driver is deleted run msconfig again. Enter. Go to Boot tab. Disable save boot for your OS. Restart PC. you will be in normal mode again.
7. Install 547.17 with the help of NVCleanstall https://www.techpowerup.com/download/te ... leanstall/
8. After install check if you can make the 1728x1080 499hz res in the NVIDIA ctrl Panel-Change Resolution-Customize tab. if it works in display properties monitor tab properties-driver install zowie drivers. In color mangement choose the Rtings profile. In NVIDIA ctrl Panel Adjust desktop color settings enable Override to Reference Mode.

Thanks guys for sharing good info!

Do you know any way to bypass the 500blabala hz limit that win10 has? Any registry tweaks or smth that works?

I'm running a 6 GHz no smt OC for my old Source-1 games, high speed ram and I really want those stable 540 hz/fps, cuz win 11 is way less performant comparing to my stripped win 10 with massive fps...

Thank you very much for the answer, exactly what I wanted to know. To be honest, what I miss most about the Asus is the sharpness and the software for changing profiles (even the Acer 540, being cheaper, has this feature), increasing the contrast beyond 50 when browsing looks very strange, something I don't notice on the 2566k. In your opinion, the Zowie is quite worth it compared to the Asus then, right? I only play pubg, I really wanted to get the 2586x, the big problem is that in my country the Zowie costs DOUBLE the Asus, a very striking difference
I sold my Asus for 439 euro and got the zowie for 1200 euro. I took a hit too! Zowie is def the best for pubg. If you have the money to spare and you don't get it in trouble with rent, food, power, gass and the water bill: Yes it's worth it! Did u see TGTLN's video on his zowie settings in pubg?
Yeah, I really want Zowie but I can buy a used car with the amount they charge for on this monitor here in my country hahaha, it's crazy, even though having the money hurts a little. I should sell the Asus and continue with the 2566k and wait for the value to drop a little. By the way, the difference to the 2566k is also very big?.. I've seen this Tig video since it came out, I follow the competitive scene a lot, but I prefer to use gamma 5 and color vibration 16, the rest is the same. A monitor that I miss and regret selling was the vg259qm, the value for money on this monitor is impeccable
yes the vg259qm was very nice. Apex streamer Faide still uses it. Yes the xl2586x is way brighter then the xl2566k and faster. Plus there is a extra option for the color vibrance called: "Advanced Define" where u can handpick the color you want to boost or even better you want to turn down. U can play in a black and white screen if u like with for example only the green colors activated. (and not just R G B ) If my memory serves me correctly the xl2566k did not have that.
Hey Dave, I'm going to get the monitor in a few days. Could you please tell me in advanced how I would make the screen black and white and the other colours pop out in detail?

You need a game like quake live that has the option to put the enemy in a specific color like cyan And your team mates in a other color. Then go the options in the zowie panel and put all the colors to 0 except cyan. Put cyan on 100.

Damn, this sounds so interesting. Do you use this monitor yourself? I am keen to use this method you talk about, but on VALORANT to see to how it goes, though I may run into some potential problems but we'll have to see.

If I remember cyan is a combination of blue and green right? So would you turn those up?

It doesn't really matter what color you pick as long as it matches the color of the enemy team. I usually pick a color that is very bright like cyan, or what's its called that purple pinkish red color. Cause most backgrounds don't have that color. But be aware. I don't play Valorant, if the enemies in the enemyteam all have different colors if does not work.
