New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
so i purchased this monitor, i now have both asus and zowie
Impressions side by side:
BENQ zowie xl2586x
- dyac2 is slightly brighter, people saying ulmb2 is too dim or dark, i dont know what to say
- dyac2 is better, no comparison, the UFOS are all clear from top to bottom, even in the middle of the screen its a toss up, i prefer dyac2
- the zowie has deeper blacks, its a nicer looking panel
- i am not seeing any pixel inversion, on some resolutions like 60hz the asus has this effect, i havent noticed it yet on the zowie, might be panel lottery
- dyac2 just wins by default, because you can run it below 360hz without any ulmb vertical total CRU hack, that will lower your brightness below 300hz
- sharpness slider and color saturation make massive difference, quite sad asus doesnt have those (though can be mitigated by using controlmymonitor app), and changing color saturation, but it resets after reboot, or nvidia, and sharpness can be mitigated using nvidia panel game sharpening
- surprised how heavy the stand is
- base of the stand is way better than asus
ASUS pg248qp
- it goes crazy bright without ulmb2 activated
- gsync (but its kinda whatever, you wont screen tearing unless change hertz below 240)
- onscreen crosshairs, decent
- looks cooler than the zowie, rgb and way better bezels
- ufo looks better without backlight strobing enabled on both
- reflex analyzer, whatever, used in once
- with ULMB2 there is less input lag vs dyac2, i recorded a 240fps side by side, and slowed it down 10 times, and asus is ever so faster
NOW IF ASUS WERE TO EVER UPDATE THIS MONITOR, and add sharpness slider, color saturation, and ulmb2 below 360hz, it would be quite A MONITOR
but unfortunately, its been over a year without a single update (my brightness constantly resets when my pc wakes up)
xl25486x is just better, outrageous price, but the small details add up, and just looking at 2 web pages, asus has a weird slight blur, im max sharpness on benq tho, but its kinda hurts my eyes looking at the asus

Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
strange, and hdmi 2.1 in cru says its 32gbps max, i dont know how safe tweaking other settings, like max pixel clock are

Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
i did get 540hz HDMI 2.1 working with no DSC, alt tab
not sure if changing 32gbps to 48gbps did anything
disabled dsc, chose 500 EDID in benq monitor
i have a 48gbps hdmi 2.1 (not zowies one) unsure if that changes anything
made a custom cru refresh
im not actually sure how high i can go with pixel clock in zowie, and i dont really wanna mess up new 1000 USD monitor
it def doesnt overclock, do not ret above 540hz, i had to use another monitor to get into CRU in windows to reset/change it

Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
i was also able to get custom resolutions to work, not sure if changing this does anything, or only effects the resolutions inside this area, i cant make any resolutions with high pixel clock in that section though

Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
I just got the new XL2586X+ with 600hz. Is better to use HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4? Input lag and performance main concern

Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
Hdmi 2.1 is better cause it can load more bandwith. Bandwith is king with cables. More bandwith= less inputlag+ more stability. If you enable the 500hz mode dsc should be disabled with hdmi 2.1. With dp 1.4. it should be enabled.Whosmysterious wrote: ↑12 Feb 2025, 01:28I just got the new XL2586X+ with 600hz. Is better to use HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4? Input lag and performance main concern
Ps I noticed some ppl people on the zowie reddit are advising to use dp 1.4. over hdmi 2.1 on the new zowies. Sure dp 1.4. Is better then hdmi 2.0 but NOT better then hdmi 2.1. I think they got hdmi 2.0 mixed up with hdmi 2.1.

Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
What's strange is it seems like 600hz works over hdmi 2.1 without dsc on the XL2586X+. I can't 100% confirm, but I don't get the black screen when alt tabbing like I did on my pg248qp 540hz.daviddave1 wrote: ↑14 Feb 2025, 04:41Hdmi 2.1 is better cause it can load more bandwith. Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
Nice. Can u also make custom resolutions with the 600hz mode like 1728x1080? (This is not possible on the 540hz mode on the 540hz.)Out of curiosity: on the xl2586x u can choose between the 540hz and 500hz mode in the options of the monitor. What modes does the xl2586x+ have?Whosmysterious wrote: ↑14 Feb 2025, 12:43What's strange is it seems like 600hz works over hdmi 2.1 without dsc on the XL2586X+. Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
Been trying to get 1350x1080 to work with display scaling on XL2586X+, if i select 1280x960, the active signal resolution is the same as desktop resolution and i can scale with monitor (and i assume without dsc) at 600hz. Trying any other res causes effect like in the image i sent. Owned the monitor for less then a week and already got a dead pixel too, fuck dsc and fuck zowie. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHAT TO DO?

Re: New Zowie Monitor 540Hz XL2586X
On the xl2586x you cannot make a custom res in 540 mode. You have to put the monitor in 500 mode first.ivexxy wrote: ↑Yesterday, 21:09Been trying to get 1350x1080 to work with display scaling on XL2586X+, if i select 1280x960, the active signal resolution is the same as desktop resolution and i can scale with monitor (and i assume without dsc) at 600hz. My advice is dont put it in the 600 mode. Put it in the other one. 500 or the equivalent of the + version.
