This is bad. Not 50%, not 40%, and comparing to the previous founder's editions with worse cooling isn't a good idea. Worse still, the partner cards by default are virtually the same as the FE except with better cooling. In other words, you need to be manually overclocking. Asus tacks on an additional $50-100 for the Strix ($1300). The MSI Trio X might make more sense, saving $50 for a higher temp that may not matter... It appears DLSS may be the only thing that might really separate these cards, but you wonder about just not using AA at 4k.

I'm not confident about manually overclocking, especially with Overwatch having an issue with that.

And this is why I love and hate nvidia. They are big dreamers. But looking back at the history of gpu tech and realtime graphics programing; Advanced techniques have always required an overhead that our economy rarely provides. It still looks like a LOT can be done via driver optimization with these cards. And also on the developer end if they want to put in the work there may be many cool tricks. Optimizing shared cache ratios, maybe using rtx cores for certain culling operations, offloading some int calculations to the gpu. Deep learning can be used for alot. It depends on how programable the new parts are. But it just throws out alot of red flags. Are we really going to see these things happen for many titles? Based on history alot that can be done will just never happen by the time the next generation comes out. And will the next generation of chips offer a manufacturing technique that actually gives more than a 10% increase in performance/price to consumers?

Ok Im done ranting.

If anyone spots available 2080 ti Strixes post here... although I think if I see an MSI X Trio I might just pick that one and not bother waiting on Asus to release a card that appears to be extremely similar, and even marginally beaten.

I got my Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti on the way thanks to NowInStock.net which let me know super fast when it showed up in stock at NewEgg.

Both times it sold out in 11 minutes since they became available briefly last week.

I got an MSI Trio X from the Micro Center. Caught one being available at 1:20 in the morning. Must've been a cancelled or expired preorder.

Here's the ballpark to expect at 1440 ultrawide.

So obviously they kept silent on the lower resolution performance intentionally (which gets progressively worse), those little zits. How did they get 40%-50% for 4k though when reviewers and everyone else rarely hit 40% in any game? Why does no one shame them for this? Relationships are too important? Is it at all possible they used in development drivers we might see in the coming weeks or few months?

By the way, I'm not getting solid 60 fps in the Witcher 3 at 4k and highest quality preset. Dipping in the 50s. 7700k at 5ghz and 3600mhz ram.

What is a bad temp for the CPU? I'm maxing out in the 80s, even hitting 90. How does this affect overall performance and what does it do to the lifespan of the CPU? Upgrading to 9900k is going to be a shit-ton of extra money factoring in the motherboard ($900 with taxes between the two). Wondering whether I should bite the bullet and put in ~$350 for a really good full tower and a triple fan liquid CPU cooler with my current 7700k. Do better temps mean better fps?
