I wish I could test out the 2560x1440 version.

I tested out the original DK2 and it was way too low resolution for me. It was very pixelated and the screen door effect was prominent.

I wonder if this will be their retail resolution or if they'll be shooting for a higher minimum resolution.

Now if only they used the 120hz IPS displays from this article:

artifact free strobing on ips has yet to be demonstrated and for vr having strobing/low persistence is very important due to the eye tracking involved when turning your head (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vestibulo% ... lar_reflex)

from what i've seen so far it looks like oculus knows very well what they're doing and what's required for a good vr experience

The only advantage IPS has is better extreme viewing angles which you would never have to worry about with a headset.

OLED absolutely destroys IPS in contrast, saturation, and persistence.

I went from a 1280x720 OLED Galaxy S3 to a 2650x1440 IPS LG G3 and while I'm mostly pleased with the LG G3 the downgrade in contrast and saturation bothers me all the time and seeing the pixels during their transitions is also very distracting.

That was my bad guys, I read LED instead of OLED. I didn't even know OLED displays were ready for market yet. I'm freaking excited about the possibility of 100,000 Hz refresh!

Wait what. So there are multiple versions of Oculus DK2?
I tested a DK2, but all those black gaps between pixels were horrible. Looked like it was 640x480 too. My guess is that either they didn't configure test program or it's really that bad. I think it was 75hz instead too
Is this the other version? If yes, then the future is here.
We just need better hardware to handle such resolution at high fps and a good controller

DK2 (Crystal Cove) is 1080p. The 1440p version is called Crescent Bay and likely will be finalized as Consumer Version 1 (CV1), as some people refer to it, though it hasn't been offered as a Dev Kit.
