I really hope we start seeing these refresh rates at 27" again.

HardwareUnboxed describes the loss in brightness https://youtu.be/UonGoqrAdMA?si=hMLKdG9s6dJKZPzp at 17:07 With the long pulse settings, 300 nits are the total nits.
But then then it becomes unclear what the nits are with medium and short pulse. 30 and 150 nits? That cannot be correct. Can someone please explain?

Very nice. Gratz. I live in Europe. No Newegg here. Can u please come back here and let us now how the brightness acts when u turn on ulmb with pulse width large, medium and small? Cause hardwareonboxed does not explain this in a matter that is understandable! Don't forget about us!

Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!
Hmm according to the hardwareunboxing revews this monitor has 300 nits on the 100 pulse width setting. 120 nits! On the 50 pulse width setting and 20 nits! On the shortest pulse width. This is kinda weird cause Optimum Tech review said the monitor has 352 nits with ULMB2 on.
That would makes this monitor a 300 nits monitor on the lowest backlightstrobing setting.
(120 nits or below is unplayable why even put this option in the monitor? )
In comparison the Zowie XL2566K has around 359 nits on the highest backlightstrobing setting. Source https://www.displayninja.com/benq-zowie-xl2566k-review/
The darkening of the PG27AQN to 270 nits with with ULMB2 on the lowest pulse width setting and 20! nits on the highest setting was the MAIN reason (besides no options for custom res) I have send that monitor back.
If hardwareunboxed is right it looks like ULMB2 is useless also on this monitor cause it darkens the screen to much.
This HAS to be the reason Optimum Tech did not enable ULMB2 on his monitor. Apperantly 480 nits brightness unstrobed points out enemy's better that 300 nits brightness strobed with ULMB2 lowest setting.
I rather then go with the ACER 540hz (like Optimum Tech said in the end of his review) or wait on the 540hz Zowie.

Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!
Like you said in your previous post, he said the monitor has over 300 NITS for ULMB2 PW=100, 150 NITS for UMLB2 PW=50, and 30 NITS for ULMB2 PW=1.
I do think these numbers make sense. For me, 150 NITS is very well playable, and 30 NITS or close to it is also playable. Brightness is also a matter of getting used to it. I used to use Acer 390 Hz monitor with VRB=Normal because VRB=Extreme had too low brightness for my taste. But then one day I gave VRB=Extreme another try and felt it was fine and I got used to it. Also the experience relative to the monitor brightness depends on the amount of light in the room.
Now I am using XL2566K with Blur Busters Strobe Utility to almost the lowest pulse width (value 23 between 1 and 25, and at one point I was using 25). I don't know how many NITS that is, but using "Lux Light Meter" mobile application, I estimate it around 40-50.

Hardwareunboxed says 120 or 30 nits is unplayable in his ULMB2 review at 12:02 https://youtu.be/LZndZ7NWnZs?si=oHkbPGYz1SjpFkb2Inco^ wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 03:56Like you said in your previous post, he said the monitor has over 300 NITS for ULMB2 PW=100, 150 NITS for UMLB2 PW=50, and 30 NITS for ULMB2 PW=1.

I totally agree with hardwareunboxed here. My take is; It's like walking arround with super dark sun glasses making enemies hard to spot let alone tracking them. And that's what this monitor and Blurbusting in general should be about: Spotting enemies and tracking them in the best way possible.

Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!
In the video about the PG27AQN you sent, around 12 minutes, what I can hear him say is the following:
- 21 NITS at PW=10 which is not very usable in practice
- PW=50 provides a good balance between clarity and usable brightness
- 150 NITS measured at PW=50
I understand you don't want to negate the benefits of better motion clarity by walking around with sunglasses trying to spot enemies, but that's not at all how I feel like with the brigthness I'm using. I feel like my brightness is completely sufficient and adequate.
