Thank you, would you say this is noticable or a potential dealbreaker?NDUS wrote: ↑21 Nov 2023, 04:08I know what they're talking about and it's not pixel density. Screen door effect is the wrong word
The monitor has low-quality lamination (or just, too much of it - too much stuff in front of the actual panel) so there is an odd faint plasticky pattern. Like you can tell there's 4 or 5 pieces of plastic in front of the panel. I think it's caused by scattering of the polarized light within the laminated plastic layers

Do you think this lamination problem is specific to Asus or to AUO ? should we expect this same problem on the Acer Nitro XV242F ?

Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!
I'm sure AUO is pro enough to not do something boneheaded like laminate a shitton of plastic in front of their panel. If you buy a panel from them it will probably just be the bare panel. So it's on Asus most likely (but I haven't seen any other monitor with this panel yet)
You really notice it when staring at a white screen or a very white image. The darker the image the more it goes away. You don't notice it in games.Thank you, would you say this is noticable or a potential dealbreaker?
But I'm pretty sure this insanely thick lamination is also why the monitor looks yellowish. It's the color / refractive imperfection of the plastic laminate, probably
Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!
is anyone else with this monitor having black screens when tabbing out? it only lasts for like a second or two but its really annoying.
turning dsc off fixes it but them im restricted to 360hz. using the "esports pro mode" under aspect control also fixes it but them im restricted to low 4:3 resolutions. so strange...

Same sort of thing that happens when you have gsync enabled on other monitors
I'll definitely be reselling this monitor when BenQ releases their own take on the panel...
Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!
Anyone notice any difference in performance depending on which game visual setting you choose? I feel like I notice less yellow ghosting when on the RPG profile vs the Racing one. The thing I don't understand is if I look at the saturation, gamma, brightness, and color temperature. I can set them to the same on both profiles but the image still looks different. I wonder if this monitor is like the XG2431 that performs differently based on what color setting it has. The yellow ghosting is pretty awful.
This monitor definitely feels way snappier than my 240hz even when i just run 250 fps on it and better but in some games this ghosting is really noticeable and I feel like im back on windows 7 with this alt tab crap.
I get this even with gsync turned off, its terrible. 900 dollar monitor, you don't get the vesa mount it needs and you get subpar performance. What a joke.meow wrote: ↑24 Nov 2023, 12:02is anyone else with this monitor having black screens when tabbing out? it only lasts for like a second or two but its really annoying.

Did you notice any ghosting when setting the overdrive to normal? no review mentions ghosting with this settingFerr0 wrote: ↑25 Nov 2023, 12:25Anyone notice any difference in performance depending on which game visual setting you choose? I guess its actually overshoot, yes i notice it on normal. It's only when its at the extremes like white text on a black background or a mouse on a black background has a slight yellow to it i move fast. It goes away if I turn off OD completely.kameCS wrote: ↑26 Nov 2023, 01:21Did you notice any ghosting when setting the overdrive to normal? no review mentions ghosting with this settingFerr0 wrote: ↑25 Nov 2023, 12:25Anyone notice any difference in performance depending on which game visual setting you choose?
