Everyone is expecting an announcement of Apple's HMD during WWDC 2023 on June 5th.
Rumored specs:
OLED Microdisplays
1.41" in diagonal
4000 PPI
>5000 nits of brightness (effectively 75-100 nits to the eye).
Pancake Lenses (rumored 120FOV)
Price ~$3000
Regarding nits: considering pancake lenses are only 15-20% efficient and there's a need to account for persistence, that brings it down to 75-100 nits to the eye.
Let's see how close these rumors are on Monday and if these specs impress the VR news sites (who were invited to WWDC for the first time ever). There is already misinformation from other Apple "experts" thinking 5000 nits will blind them, but in reality we'll probably see them say it's as bright as the Quest Pro.
