Acer Nitro XV242F (540hz TN) discussion

Post by forcedreg » 11 Dec 2023, 12:37

A cheaper monitor using the same panel as Asus PG248QP but without G-Sync module (and ULMB2?). Similar to how Acer Nitro XV252QF was a cheaper model of the Asus 360 hz. Interestingly, XV252QF turned out to be a lot better than the Asus 360 hz (See thread for XV252QF here), which makes me excited for this monitor and I'm hoping that it will be launched in EU/USA/Aus in the near future.

Reviews/Unboxings:
Silas Chan on youtube: unboxing, overview of settings and a quick UFO test.

Availability:
So far it's only been launched in China and is available at Taobao.

I reached Acer Store Support and they told me this for Europe :
Expected release date: Q2 2024
Recommended price: 649 euros

Other info:
Display specifications
KitGuru news article
pcmonitors.info news article
Acer product support page

Please share your thoughts about the monitor and any news that you come across.

PS. Feel free to move this to a different subforum if needed. Although it's technically already launched in China I deemed it still being in "news/rumours" phase.

i'm also interested in this monitor which will be a more efficient approach to this incredible TN 540Hz panel.
Asus version does not seem to be mastered, noisy gsync module, yellow overshot, problem with custom resolutions and ratio aspect, poor quality panel coating, no sharpness option.

i hope for a release date for early 2024 will be possible

My commentary:

1) Anyone else notice the hitching on the ufo test? Is it just a web browser problem or the monitor itself?

2) I see fringed text on the black screen with red text. Is it some YCBCR 422 thing?

3) There's a lot of shills for 24" screens but once you go 1440p 240hz it's hard to acknowledge these 24's exist. Whether you think Shroud is a meme or not, I feel like I aim better at 1440p 240hz as well. The people that don't probably use 400dpi and refuse to change to 800 dpi.

4) As I mentioned in another thread on here, if this monitor uses DSC I disliked having it on for the XG27AQMR.

5) $661 China dollars is still pretty high for a 24" TN panel

I can give you some answers, there is a difference in feeling between 400dpi and 800dpi because the curve angle is not the same, this is why 400dpi is preferred to obtain a more stable aim. play on a 27" 1440p is an improvement in image detail but the size is not optimized for games like valorant or csgo, the best compromise is the 25" 1300p esports mode available on many Asus 27" monitors

Did the windows 10 limit of 500hz ever get fixed or will users have to be running win11 to get the full 540hz?
Also the Acer 390hz display is a 360hz panel that overclocks to 390hz, will this one overclock?

Not all people play at niche cs:go/valorant games lmao.
I don't see why logically you will prefer a small 24 inch, it's too small you can't see anything and the argument of "you are more focus/model are more optimized" it's simply not true at all, it's just a matter of habits or you didn't test a 1440p, it is not because you play on a 1080p that you will be better and appreciate your experience compared to a random guy that play on a 32 inch 4k panel, i play better on 4k than many other 1080p people for example.
Not all games have small map, but i mean marketing have probably found a new trick to make people like you buy these 1080p again in 2024

ouch...yeah you are right, the asus is really bad with what you said.
never know about these cons, still hilarious to say Optimum always talk about product and never complain about them

I like to compare experiences to form my own opinion, for the year 2023 I bought the best competitive monitors, pg27aqn, pg27aqdm, aw2523hf, xl2566k, aw2524hf to finally use them in 25" 1300p esports format or 1440x1080 when I play csgo because I find myself more reactive and nervous, but I also have my personal approach because the majority use 1280x960 format with AAx8, I find this incomprehensible because using AA beyond x4 adds a lot of latency and this resolution is really a pixel mush
