So I've been posting all the news I find on this monitor over at Overclock.net.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1534297/pc-p ... -ips-panel

Some details you can find throughout the thread:
Release is now slated for mid May according to an ASUS page: https://pcdiy.asus.com/2015/01/mg279q-w ... -ces-2105/
$599 according to ASUS rep at CES
DisplayPort 1.2a
Capable of 144hz (I assume overclocking)

I cannot wait for this monitor to come out, been dying to buy a new one.

Thanks Steeps. So no 144Hz or variable refresh, this is like a poor man's version of the Acer?

What are you talking about?

Its 120hz, ... will be 144hz, if the yields are good - said asus @ ces.
And it has adaptive sync (just unbranded freesync), will work just like freesync

I'm talking about the fact that the thread title, the OP, and that PC Perspective article in the OP, all say 120Hz and not 144Hz.

Regarding AdaptiveSync, the PC Perspective article also says:

"While officially only listing a generic "DisplayPort" input, we have learned this supports DP 1.2a Plus. What does this mean? At least on paper that would indicate that this monitor could offer AdaptiveSync / FreeSync support."

"Could offer" AdaptiveSync is not the same as "has" AdaptiveSync.

I have not trawled through the OCN thread so if things have developed since Chief opened this thread, maybe you can point us to something more concrete?

Edit: upon further Googling, it appears that the 144Hz rumor comes from SWEClockers: http://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/20244- ... d-freesync

I still have my doubts though. If it really were confirmed, why would ASUS update the release date on their webpage while still leaving the refresh rate as "up to 120Hz"?

Dunno about sweclockers man, i watched all the CES videos available on youtube. Asus rep says it will be 144hz if the yields are good, but we can definitely expect it to be 120hz. And honestly... thats not a difference anyone should really care about.

Also, PC perspective themselves did an update to their 1st interview - it DOES have the VESA adaptivesync 1.2a port.
And AMD confirmed they are not blacklisting anything, so it will work with amd`s freesync.
I feel like this has been common knowledge for a few months now...

Looks like there may be some issues with this for the moment. Appears the freesync will be from 35-90hz.

They also recalled every single monitor.

You'll have to translate though.
