BenQ Announce Curved 35" XR3501 with 144Hz VA Panel

What do we think?

35 inch and VA instead of IPS with a 4ms GTG response time. Could be interesting in terms of motion blur reduction, especially if you can run some sort of backlight strobing (lightboost)?

I'm actually looking for a bigger screen (~42 inch) without much motion blur, but my best choice at the moment would be a Sony KDL-42W805B screen in game mode combined with "LED Motion Mode" (backlight strobing).

Hopefully it's not shit and they completely revamp the options in the OSD, and maybe a easier way for people to update the firmware. But I seriously hope for the best :)

Edit: Oh wow it's only 2560 x 1080, that's slightly depressing.

If it was 3440 x 1440 with GSYNC I would be excited. I'm not going to replace my Swift with 2560 x 1080.

More VA monitors are always welcomed :D . Even if I have never owned an IPS or VA monitor, I'd surely prefer a VA monitor. Being colorblind (not a strong one) I don't care about 100% color accuracy, and I hate blacks that aren't black.

Now give me a 3440x1440@144Hz VA G-Sync monitor, with strobing at any refresh rate and 3D Vision 2.

For my application I care less about color and resolution and I'm more interested in a big screen (>27 inch) with low input latency (<20 ms), high refresh rate and wide viewing angles. You can imagine why I'm excited about this new panel. :D

Just curious if the quality can come close to BENQ's TN monitors in terms of motion blur reduction and low input latency. BTW, this is the only panel I know of which is >30 inch and is not IPS..?

No. There will be also an Acer equivalent: http://www.overclock.net/t/1552453/vari ... -9-monitor

Cant wait for that z35. Everything about it is perfect. Except the resolution, but hoping that 4x DSR will make it look close to what real 1440p would look like.

That Z35 also looks very promising indeed! With G-sync :o

I bet it's a bandwidth limitation.
Assuming we stick to typical refresh rates - though there really should be no need for that with G-Sync/Adaptive-Sync - you can probably only drive a 3440x1440 panel at 100Hz over existing connections. (assuming that 2560x1440@144Hz is used due to it being the maximum currently supported)

That said, I would prefer 3440x1440@100Hz rather than 2560x1080@144Hz.

This LCD probably will have an artificially capped refresh rate, which makes it a dumb buy. Pretty much all 144Hz LCDs could probably run at 160Hz-180Hz if they weren't capped.
