It looks pretty damn nice. The strangest thing about this monitor is that they went with DisplayPort over USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C which i personally don't have a problem with but i wonder why they chose that over a much more standardized DP1.3/4 connection. It does have HDMI 2.0 and mDP 1.2 but they don't have enough bandwidth for 120hz.

Pretty hyped for the future :D

wonderful for general use, but without strobing, I wonder how it will look for fast paced gaming.

Drool.

One thing I wonder is : to hit 120hz at UHD, why not enable Freesync / Adaptive sync over DisplayPort?

Do any Dell monitors actually support Freesync over their DP connectors?

Dell has definitely thrown down the gauntlet for the high end, and now it will be up to other monitor makers, hopefully Samsung, to pick it up from there. And Samsung is actually gung ho about Freesync.

I imagine it's because OLED isn't bright enough to support strobing right now.

Definitely.

It seems like OLEDs have the three mutually contradictory design pressures : higher peak brightness, low persistence, and HDR are all orthogonal to one another. At least for spatial light modulators based on multiple modulators.

OLED does deliver great contrast and viewing angles, but I doubt it will ever do HDR efficiently. Who knows. Fundamentally I just don't see it happening. However it's still way better looking than current LCDs.

Any news on the input lag for this? OLED TVs have really high input lag, I wonder if this is lower.

since each pixel can be controlled independently, it's not necessary to have global strobing like with lcd monitors, so there's no upper bound on the persistence.

so suppose the panel can hit 200nits max. then you could (in theory) get have 3.542ms persistence and 85nits at 120hz, which of course isn't crt level, but still quite nice.

This display was announced back in January, it's firmly in the vaporware category.
