Impulsive scanning Samsung SVA(Super Vertical Alignment)?

Post by Q83Ia7ta » 05 Sep 2016, 09:10

The monitors include a strobe backlight mode to reduce motion blur as much as possible, called ‘impulsive scanning’.
Another key aspect of the specification which Samsung has been keen to highlight is the 125% sRGB colour gamut, which is achieved using a flicker-free Quantum Dot backlight solution.
Samsung rather brazenly tout a 1ms grey to grey response time on these models, which given the panel type to be approached with particular caution.

Isn't that impulsive scanning is like CRT does?

If it's flicker free, no.

If it's flicker free, no.
Flicker free implies that it doesn't have any PWM backlight problems, not that it doesn't have backlight flickering blur reduction.

Well let's see.
If this thing has more vibrant colors, no color banding, no color banding in fog, NO BACKLIGHT BLEED, *** CAN STROBE AT EVERY CUSTOM REFRESH RATE INCLUDING 60HZ ***, doesn't have Crosstalk that covers half the screen...it might be worth buying.

Sorry, Vega, but ever since the Thin Bezel party appeared with these 1440p monitors, it's one big lottery now.

BTW don't you have an almost perfect 4k OLED?

If this thing has more vibrant colors
With their incomparably blacker blacks, everything looks a lot more vibrant on a VA than other LCDs, I find.
no color banding, no color banding in fog
As far as I know, all new VA panels are native 8 bit. I have a 8bit VA monitor and in comparison to the 6+2 TNs I've tried, fog in the Overwatch training map looks a lot better. No readily apparent banding.
NO BACKLIGHT BLEED
That's another area where VA panels excel. I think it's inherent to how they're put together, but in any case, I hear there's just a lot less backlight bleeding issues with VAs. My particular monitor has absolutely no backlight bleeding no matter how hard you look for it (just very, very minor clouding) which is something I've never seen on other monitors.
CAN STROBE AT EVERY CUSTOM REFRESH RATE INCLUDING 60HZ
doesn't have Crosstalk that covers half the screen
Now that's just pipe dreams.

I'm extremely skeptical about the idea of fast VA panels though. Their ghosting is wild and hard to tame because they have particular trouble with certain transitions. Plus, this is one of those curved meme screens -- is this really gonna be a thing now?

Need 60hz strobe tests and crosstalk tests. 60hz, 85hz, 100hz, 120 and 144hz blur reduction tests with testUFO alien invasion, fullscreen.

Is impulsive scanning only available at certain refresh rates?
