"1440p ought to be enough for anybody."

Jokes aside, the only reason I didn't wait for the 144Hz HDR 4Ks is due to the completely unacceptable upscaling quality. 120FPS+ on 4K is impossible with modern games, unless you drop everything to "minimum". The bad 1080p upscaling just killed the deal completely for me. SLI is not a good solution, at least for me. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, and seems to introduce a heap of issues you don't have on single-card systems.

8K might actually do better here. Due to pixel density, maybe (just maybe) upscaling might actually look acceptable.

They need to start making firmware updates on monitor ubiquitous. Supposedly, it is very easy for current TV manufacturers to say change HDR10 to HDR10+ with a simple firmware update.

Never understood why monitor manufacturers always keep monitor firmware static.

It would cost them money for support. And it would mean you'd have less incentive to buy new monitors.

Then again, it can be expensive for monitor manufacturers.

Monitor models with major bugs can end up becoming recalled for a firmware upgrade. (That happened to the BenQ XL2720Z)
