It's supposed to be quarter one (meaning before April?) but I was wondering whether it might be very soon...

I wouldn't put too much thought into that price. It's probably just a place holder price that could go down. Also, People in Europe and the surrounding area pay significantly higher prices than people in North America do for electronics.
I sure as hell hope so. It was supposed to be 2k, not 3k!

This monitor seems not worth the cost considering you'll need like two future generations of GPUs to maybe run it properly with HDR. By then (2020?), I assume there will be better and cheaper options for high refresh 4k.

To me, the 1440p 0.5ms 240hz and Ultrawide 200hz are more interesting. Least you might be able to sorta push those past what's already currently on the market with the next gen GPUs.

It has been stated on this forum that HDR adds virtually nothing to GPU requirement. You buy one Volta Titan and you should be fine. SLI at xx80 should have you reaching 144 fps on the highest settings in the most graphically demanding games generally speaking. I think your speculation is pretty off. Maxing out the other monitors will be easier, although 200 fps at 1440 ultrawide I've read is supposed to be 4k at 120 fps.

I have a 4K 120Hz monitor at http://www.blurbusters.com/480hz -- it's the Zisworks display.

I was able to run many "only-slightly-older" games (e.g. Bioshock Infinite, a 2013 game) at full 120fps 4K on a single GTX 1080 Ti Extreme. There are many games that manage to run fine at 4K 120fps, although framerates do begin to degrade with the newer games.

The Steam Store is full of games that are an absolute pleasure to enjoy at 4K 120fps strobed on a single GPU. I must say I am looking forward to seeing how high-quality the 144 Hz local dimming is; I hope it proves as good as advertised -- 384 zone local dimming is something that has never arrived in a computer monitor -- and what I've seen with HDR at CES 2018 on various displays -- I certainly would pay several hundreds dollars more to gain HDR capability in my monitor -- with the correct game, given sufficient nitroom (1000nit+) HDR looks awesome.

That said, not all games are properly designed for HDR. There will be a catch-22 where many older games don't have HDR support -- the very games that will play at full frame rate.

However, since there's GSYNC support too, the framerate fluctuations aren't bothersome (albiet I would lose ULMB when enabling G-SYNC) -- so newer games fluctuating at 80-100fps in 4K HDR -- should still look relatively kickass -- if the 384-zone local dimming performs well during variable refresh rate operation.

It is such an expensive beast. Hopefully they will readjust the price quickly as manufacture ramps up.

Hello, we can pre order this monster now. The sellers are saying the X27 will be available in mid Mar. The price is RMB 20k, which is about 3100 USD. 2 sellers quote the same price. My prediction was 15k-20k for X27, 20k+ for ROG PG27UQ (ROG and AW is extremely overpriced in China mainland).

Here I list some current price of Acer monitors in RMB for your reference:

Acer XB271HU ~5000
Acer X34P ~7500
Acer XB252Q ~4000
Acer Z35P ~6500

Another ouch, quarter 3 for the 4k monitor and quarter 4 for the ultrawide now apparently. When is the 240hz 1440 supposed to release? Last I read it will go in production quarter 2.
