Graphene Display capable of 400 Hz+

This might be interesting tech used in future screens:

They are saying it could work up to 2000hz! ;)

Considering 4k @ 27" is about 163ppi...
And 8k @ 27" is about 335.43ppi..

That would be a hell of a monitor.

Sure, I'll take an 8k @ 27" monitor with 2000hz. Not like we have any graphical hardware that can drive it right now but perhaps in another decade or so.

2.3% of visible light is a "large optical absorption"? How? Or did they mean 2.3% of the EM spectrum (visible light range on a logarithmic scale).

They may mean that one layer of the material absorbs 2.3% so a few hundred nm of the stuff can be used as a gate to block light.

There can be techniques to amplify that 2.3% into something that has a huge contrast ratio. Whether via using polarizers, via using stacking, etc. They will just have to develop the right technique.

Even - LCDs also happen to be nearly invisible without using a polarizer.

As Chief said, LCD is nearly invisible too. Look at this LCD screen that had its polarizer removed, and then looked through a hand-held polarizer:
