As it turned out, the color issues I mentioned in my first impressions were caused by me kind of underestimating the impact of viewing angles with TN panels. I rearranged my desk appropriately and reset the monitor to the default brightness, contrast and gamma settings. It took some time to find a good setup in terms of height and tilting angle, but the difference is palpable. I now get what people meant when they said that this monitor has great contrast. Especially in scenes with stuff brightly "glowing", such as lava, explosions or light sources, you can really tell the difference. Definitely impressive, even in comparison to the IPS PG279Q.

I am in the middle of another playthrough of DOOM (2016), which is a great showcase for all the strengths of this monitor at once. The game just plays and looks amazing and erased all remaining doubts I had in regards to the purchase decision of this monitor.

I'll be getting this monitor soon.
Vega's glowing recommendation definitely helped me pull the trigger.

Have you guys fiddled with color calibration with a Spyder or the like?

Good modern TN panels can really sing if you properly position them. They're not perfect, but they are capable of so much better with some simple optimizations such as these. Especially the better/faster panels with great direct-view color quality.

Unfortunately I don't have a Spyder or something similar. But I am also curious to know how the measurements would turn out.

I just got this beast.

Anyone else had problems getting 240 Hz in Windows? I have an nvidia gtx titan x (maxwell) which I would assume should be enough to drive this. The max option is 200 Hz, but image quality is really noticeably worse than 144 Hz or 60 Hz. Text is really hard to read because of weird color defects around the edges, looks sort of like chromatic abberation? Or something related to antialiasing.

I had a livechat session with nvidia and they escalated it further but I am worried I may have received a faulty unit. What do you guys think?

First step is always ddu.
it does sound like a weird issue. Buy a new cable, dp1.2 and not too long.

I'm not entirely sure as to what this might be, but fyi maxwell should not be powerful enough for 1440p 240 in any esports title except rocket league and some rts.
Kind of a weird purchase.

Yeah, the nvidia troubleshooting session included ddu and clean/full reinstall of the drivers. I'm kind of stumped.

The cable is the Lenovo provided DP to DP cable, it is probably only 1.5 - 2 meters or something. It should work.

Have not tried HDMI, though, but I don't think that's capable of 240 Hz.

Regarding the maxwell gpu, I've had it for a couple of years and I think it is doing all right so far, I just play pubg and r6:siege now and then. My previous monitor was also 1440p but just 60 Hz. Waiting for the next big flagship after the RTX 2080 Ti before I get a new gpu.

Did you also check whether you have the correct display driver installed? As stated in my initial impressions, I had to install the driver manually, because Windows 10 did only install a generic display driver, that also prevented G-Sync from working properly. You can check my post a few pages back for more information.

Yes, I installed it manually too. Afterwards Windows displayed the correct name, but it still refuses to let me choose anything higher than 200 Hz...

I'm pretty sure this is a GPU related problem since it is an older card I think Nvidia has started to drop support in their drivers. I read that others had similar problems (albeit with older drivers and different hardware). However, if older hardware has been able to run 240 Hz, I am pretty convinced that my gpu should be able to do it too. Maybe I should start trying older drivers.
