Display related, Yamaha have announced their very first HDMI 2.1 receiver including HDMI VRR.
Yamaha 2020 product line up
RX-A8 (11 channels)
RX-A6 (9 channels)
RX-A4 (7 channels)
RX-A2 (7 channels)

eARC kind of removes the need to plug directly into the receiver but besides the addition of more ports there are some conditions were it helps.

1) TV eARC does not support PCM 7.1 (like 2019 LG OLED's though they say they will fix this), PCM is the default audio output for PC's and consoles though consoles can opt for Dolby/DTS 5.1 instead.

2) Audio sync issues, eARC is supposed to have mandatory audio sync but many over on avsforums have theorised this only works with HDMI 2.1 devices due to persist sync issues on existing eARC systems, anything not 2.1 wont work with it, this includes set top boxes connected via HDMI, not just TV and receiver.

Anyway kind of interesting to see audio/video receivers now coming with VRR support.
