AFAIK 360hz TN panels don't exist, it's all IPS.

They could OC existing AUO 0.5ms (3ms) response time 240hz panels to 280 (monitors like this exist from other brands), but I doubt they'd bother.

They're probably waiting for 480hz TNs, but that's prolly multiple years away at this point.

AUO is working on a 24.5" 1080p 360Hz TN panel for a while now. Zowie wont be using IPS imo. The difference in sight is to big compared to TN.

Oh, thanks for the heads-up!

I skimmed thru tftcentral's news archive section before stating there are no 360hz TNs out there, but seems like I missed this post.

Thanks again, for not letting me spread misinformation!

I'm not excited about these new 360, 480Hz TN or IPS panels as I used to be. Now eliminating stroboscopic blurring with extra high refresh rates is what I'm looking forward to. That seems to be the thing that bothers me most when gaming. But before we go there other things need to be resolved. LCDs seem to not be a future solution.

Here's a random 480Hz TN estimate.

Not perfectly accurate, but good enough. TN will definitely have some smear like IPS too, but not as much.

We already tested the ZisWorks 480 Hz display:

That said, that panel has no overdrive, so it's not necessarily representative.

One major problem of ever higher Hz LCDs is that GtG heatmap becomes hugely asymmetric and splotchy (the delta between fastest GtG and slowest GtG becomes a bigger chasm at higher Hz). High-Hz OLEDs will have some mandatory lag from frame processing that LCD does not, so we have a double edge sword.

However, don't forget blue-phase LCDs can have microsecond GtG response times, so LCD may still very well yet be a horse staying in the race. The arrival of 240Hz OLEDs will for example, cause many LCD panel makers to find ways to really speed up the panel, perhaps using a different LCD tech than the traditional TN/IPS/VA (there are other ways to do LCD).

Bottom line -- don't rule out LCD yet.

But LCD needs healthy competition from high-Hz OLEDs to allow them to continue to improve faster. We're already light years faster than a LCD from year 1999.

Yes, that image is layered in. I added some overdrive and some smear on top to match today's TNs. That is 240Hz shot you posted.

I expect OLED monitors to have less processing lag than TVs based on these reviews: OLED TV, OLED MONITOR

While blue-phase LCDs sound very good I don't expect them to be globally used any time soon. There is currently no such monitors available to buy or try out. This makes me think if there are some major downsides to these LCDs if it was never accepted. Honestly I haven't read much about it. But as you said sometime in future there is a chance we see them as OLEDs response times competition. We never know.

I wish BenQ would do something. We've got 1440p 360Hz announced and they haven't even made a 1080 360.

Xl2566K coming up? Using a 360 hz tn panel? I hope they change it to the new 480hz panel. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source= ... osxKnKOJVz

Ty for the heads up!

Realistically, if there are already pics of the monitor, it'll release.
Zowie is always slow to come out with their offering using the fastest TN AUO panel available... so I'd say they'll do so at least 6-12 months after everyone else does in the case of 480hz ones.

This is great news because it's great to finally see an actual Hardware advancement from BenQ... but ASUS just announced a TN 500Hz Panel. https://rog.asus.com/articles/news/the- ... ast-panel/ I'm eager to see it in practice.

BenQ has taken so long with 360Hz, quality over quantity, I hope. I really hope it's the best implementation we've seen yet for latency.
