If anyone wants to know, today I checked out Jamppi's (CS:GO pro player) stream on Twitch while I was browsing CS:GO streams, and I noticed he was using some monitor different than what one would usually see on pro player's desk. I did a quick search and it turns out that professional S-tier CS:GO team ENCE is currently already testing ASUS PG259QN 360 Hz monitor. They are the first high level CS:GO team to switch to 360 Hz IPS. All five ENCE players are using it now, which is also confirmed by prosettings.net. I'd say this is kind of big, I think it's the first time ever CS:GO pros actually use an IPS panel (it's also kind of big that first 360 Hz panel is an IPS one, in fact). It's interesting to me whether ENCE players decide to keep PG259QN or not (or some other 360 Hz IPS in the future).

I remain undecided with my choice, I'd like to test these 360 Hz IPS monitors... and I still have HP Omen X25f and BenQ Zowie XL2546K to test as well.

that is indeed interesting. i'm looking forward to your testing of 360hz and xl2546K. especially their comparison.
first gen of 360hz do seem promising. i just feel they're not quite there yet.

Hi guys,

Just bought this monitor yesterday and i see another setting in Overdrive that I haven't seen in any reviews:

It's called Esports. I am not able to find information about this anywhere. Is this something they have added in newer units with newer firmware?

It's just a label. They could have called it "high" instead. If you want to see the effect of the different overdrive settings, you can view this:

https://www.testufo.com/ghosting

preferafably in fullscreen mode, and then change between the different OD settings. They will affect ghosting.

IMHO, there should always be a "User Defined" setting in all Overdrive menus nowadays, that allows you to adjust a slider (0 to 100%) that maps to the scaler's entire Overdrive Gain range.

Even a range from 1 to 10 would probably be good enough for virtually all intents and purposes. I suspect the reason we only get settings between 1-3 or 1-4 is not technical, but marketing. Technically, overdrive should be treated the same as brightness, contrast, color saturation, etc. But a slider with values doesn't sound as impressive compared to settings with "ultra", "extreme", "high", etc, in their names

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there is something I don't understand about these new monitors that go over 240HZ:

How do you get 360FPS? As far as I understand, you need your system to be able to deliver the matching number of frames per second to be able to profit from a higher refresh rate and even at 1920 x 1080 an RTX3090 with an i9-10900K can't push past 200-220FPS in most benchmarks I've seen. Also, I'm pretty sure that most game developers don't have such frame rates in mind when developing games, so even setting graphics to potato mode won't make that big a difference.

So g-sync or freesync will just reduce the monitor's refresh rate to match frame rate.

So what's the point of this 360HZ monitor then?

CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, and other games like that. If you don't play games that can reach this frame rate, then there's no point in getting such a monitor.
