It would be more impressive if they made this dual format support higher than 360Hz. Keep same bandwidth but increase refresh rate or however it goes. Something like Zisworks. No one does that anymore.

Seeing as 360Hz is technically an overclock on this new panel type to begin with, that's probably too big of an ask for first-gen implementation. Any attempt would likely be experimental, which would make it less suited for a mainstream (affordable) commercial release.

If this technology gains traction, however, no doubt there will be such iterations over time with future panel revisions.

Yes, that technology Will be available on the upcoming laptops. Asus will release a laptop with 4k 120hz screen that can be switched to 1080p 360hz or 1440p 240hz.

Any speculations about release date, out of experience with ASUS?

I'm looking for a 1440p 240-270hz display right now and having the AW2721D and the XG27AQM at home right now i'm wondering if its now worth to wait a couple of months without burning money for the current 240hz-gen.

On the Nvidia stream they actually said that the new gen of monitors will be released "soon", so i hoping its not like 1+ year..

If the 25 1080p mode is properly done and the “fastest response time of any monitor we’ve ever seen” isn’t BS. This 360hz specifically could be worth the upgrade. It’ll also be interesting to see how the 360hz IPs fare against the 300hz mini leds.

Does it have strobing? If not I am more looking forward to a Zowie TN 360/480 DYAC +1080P

I'm very curious what Zowie thinks about max hz strobing at 360Hz. I guess we'll see if they support it in the end.

Btw here's another video on QD-OLED from HDTVTest. With some footage in motion.

Because up until this point, only LG Display has made OLED panels, and they haven't made them fully 240Hz capable yet. That, and the current yield size of the motherglass at the factories only lend themselves to 48" and higher sizes where keeping output high and prices low is concerned.

That will change soon. LG has already announce 42", and other companies are just beginning to make their own OLED-type panels.

OLED monitors have also been announced (such as the Alienware AW3423DW with a 34" Samsung QD-OLED panel and 175Hz refresh rate), but long-term IR and potential permanent burn-in is still a concern for mainstream monitor usage, which makes the manufacturers liable and vulnerable to frequent warranty claims from the majority of users who will refuse to baby their displays as to avoid such longevity issues that don't exist on current LCD gaming monitors.
