Not trying to step over the OP or hijack the conversation. But honestly, I don't feel this requires another post which will basically cover a pretty similar question. I hope this won't cause any issues
To provide some background, I recently changed my 2070 to a 6950 (New in Team Red), and as i had a 21:9 Freesync LG monitor i've told myself: Hey let's play a little bit with this. And then I discovered the complex world of "how to tune everything so it works properly". I've been reading a lot of Reddit, this forum and watching Youtube a lot to check what's the general consensus regarding the "How to Freesync" topic. But i've quickly found a question barrier.
Currently I'm using:
- RTSS vs Chill? It's usually 50/50 and nobody landed on a "this is the best" answer.
- VSync On? If so, where? Ingame or Driver?
- Any benefits if AntiLag is enabled? Or maybe any other fancy feature Adrenalin has?
I'm not into competitive games so what i'm looking for is a General config I can user for everything so it feels smooth and has the less possible "visual" impact (stutters, latency, etc). My test playground is currently Helldivers 2 if that helps.

I think there's minimal difference between the two. Chill is motion based so it doesn't limit FPS when you're in menus, loading screens,..and some games just run them at unlimited FPS, making the GPU waste alot of power. I prefer RTSS for that reason. Just use the ingame for simplicity sake. Unless you're dealing with a game with broken VSync, then use the driver one.- VSync On? If so, where? Ingame or Driver?
Vsync On if you want absolute no tearing, Vsync Off with Freesync can still produce tearing. However, I've never experience tearing Vsync off with RTSS cap.
It is recommended by AMD to keep it on for both Vsync On single player titles and Vsync off competitive tiltles. As far as i know it only works when you're GPU bound (your GPU time is much longer then CPU time), It will then adjust your CPU time so that the CPU won't get so far ahead from the GPU for better input latency. The fact that Anti-Lag could not be mutually enabled with Chill implies that, since Chill also work with your CPU time. I keep Anti Lag enable for everything and honestly I don't see any significant difference.- Any benefits if AntiLag is enabled? Or maybe any other fancy feature Adrenalin has?
An easy catch-all config would be Vsync ON, Freesync ON and a framerate cap. Just keep in mind, your experience in terms of fluidity is highly dependable on the software side. Will Blur Busters moderator ever make an optimal guide to Freesync with Radeon GPUs like they did with NVIDIA G - Sync? Since switching to a Radeon GPU (RX 7700 XT) I have been unable to find the optimal guide how to properly set up Freesync with many conflicting points and theories...currently the settings that I use are:
1. Adaptive sync on (AMD Optimized preset in Adrenalin)
2. V Sync on (in game, off in Adrenalin)
3. Default refresh rate (144Hz as well as in game cap 144FPS)
I have noticed that this combination works best with my monitor (ASUS TUF VG249Q) and produces no visual tearing as well as minimal input lag. Some people also swear by this method also:
1. Adaptive sync on (AMD Optimized preset in Adrenalin)
2. V - Sync off (in game, off in Adrenalin9
3. Default refresh rate, in game cap of 3 frames below refresh rate
The second method produces tearing in my case with some games
So I would kindly like to ask the experts to give us an answer as they did with the G - Sync method? Thanks in advance

Since i don't wanna create another topic for this i might as well try mu luck here, since it's related to freesync. I want to hear opinions on what do to do if my pc isn't up to snuff to produce steady pace of frames. I have RX 6600 and for example Space Marine 2 was really heavy to run. Should i still use the suggestions above for optimal freesync settings or should i actually lock my frames to keep the game from fluctuating? If so, at what cap i should set it up? I have 144 Hz AOC monitor and i've read somewhere that i my cap should be whole number if my 144 hz is divided. (i.e. 144/2 so i cap my game to 72 fps so i am still in VRR range). Thanks in advance!

The recommended settings are simply for ensuring VRR is always active. To make games feel more consistent, you can cap them to an FPS value that the game can reach most of the time. This is a matter of personal preference. Use a cap that works and feels best for you in each game. For me, I don't like when in a game I go from 80FPS to 130FPS depending on where I am in the game. It's a bit distracting since it makes the game look different and also feel different (latency.) So I would cap to 90FPS in that game because an FPS fluctuation between 80 and 90 doesn't feel as distracting as between 80 and 130.
