Freesync Stuttering With Borderless Windowed Mode

Talk about AMD's FreeSync and VESA AdaptiveSync, which are variable refresh rate technologies. They also eliminate stutters, and eliminate tearing. List of FreeSync Monitors.

Freesync Stuttering With Borderless Windowed Mode

Post by Numbers00 » 28 Feb 2025, 10:28

I've been having some issues recently with stuttering specifcally with borderless windowed games. The problems only occur when freesync is enabled, if I have it disabled via the driver control panel the stuttering goes away, the interesting thing about this is that all these games are 60fps locked due to the games having problems over that framerate and if i try to cap it below, the game will go down to 50fps but if i cap it above lets say 120fps it'll be smooth as butter. I don't think its a hardware problem as i have a RX 6750XT with a ryzen 5 7600 i've also ddu my driver several times with different ones but to no avail i know this isn't a large issue but i still would like to use freesync if possible.

Might as well provide name the troublesome games. The whole chain of software configuration, window version and the games behaviours is linked and the cause can be at any point.

I've fixed it with a driver rollback and i believe it also had something to do with MPOs which i had disabled for those wondering it was 24.5.1 the driver version i rolled back to will test MPOs enabled with new drivers if there's a new game i want to play
