Monitor OSD always shows 144Hz

I was using this monitor with a GTX 1060 in GYSC Compatible mode. I could confirm that Freesync/GSYNC was working because in the monitor menu I could see the Hz value fluctuating with my FPS.
Now I have an XR 6700 XT and I believe freesync is not working because in the monitor menu the Hz value always stays at 144Hz even if my FPS is lower.
Can anyone with the same monitor confirm if they have the same behavior? Is this normal?
