First AMD FreeSync Capable Monitor Arrives – $170 Cheaper

Talk about AMD's FreeSync and VESA AdaptiveSync, which are variable refresh rate technologies. They also eliminate stutters, and eliminate tearing. List of FreeSync Monitors.

at worst it's like using vsync at all framerates
At best, AMD grabs some low hanging fruit that Nvidia missed: Estimating when the next frame will be ready and pulling the forced refresh forward, in order to avoid judder in the 33~40ms frame time region(or whatever the equivalent limitation is on these monitors). But yeah, no way the monitor manufacturers are ready for a big improvement over g-sync, like seamlessly blending low framerate high persistence into high framerate low persistence with variable refresh.

I think people tend to forget that the power is in their hands. Or rather, are too stupid to realize that.

If everyone refused to buy anything TN and 60hz starting from January, we would see 120hz IPS screens everywhere in every format in 6 months tops.

Same with gsync/freesync. If freesync turns out to be just a little bit worse, it should be ignored. And we will see widespread gsync adoption in the next years.

The ONLY problem are the fanbois, brand loyalists and clueless children who buy things out of principle.
