Help pick 27" 1080p freesync monitor compatible with nvidia

Talk about AMD's FreeSync and VESA AdaptiveSync, which are variable refresh rate technologies. They also eliminate stutters, and eliminate tearing. List of FreeSync Monitors.

Help pick 27" 1080p freesync monitor compatible with nvidia

Post by lexebidar » 21 Jan 2019, 03:39

Hey!
It's that time of the year! Previously I got AOC AG251FG based on recommendations here but sold it months ago because TN and bad image quality. Since then I am just using standard 27" 1080p 60hz ips. I am fine with dpi. 1080p looks surprisingly good on 27" and when needed, 1440p or 4k dsr works like magic.
Now I am again looking for something. I want to use it with gtx 1060 6gb and ps4 exclusives. Maybe I will get xbox one or who knows, maybe ps5 will support freesync, so I think getting Freesync monitor nowadays is even better investment than Gsync. Especially that Nvidia accepts freesync now.
I also think 1080p is a good choice because many consoles games are locked at that resolution and I would avoid scaling. On pc it's just a matter of performance.

I am considering VA monitors, 16:9 and 21:9(can display black borders on consoles). Here are the models I've researched but did not tried myself yet.
LG 34UC79 and 89 (Ultrawide. Unknown differences between freesync and gsync versions)
AOC C27G1 (Not many opinions on this one. It's very cheap and looks promising)
Samsung 27CFG73 (Might have issues with text and smearing?)
Samsung 27CHG73 (heard many qc issues. hdr is useless, 1440p is demanding)
MSI MPG27C and MPG27CQ (1080p and 1440p va monitors)
Asus VG279Q - the only 1080p 144hz ips? no reviews.

So You can see there is some choice. Seen some opinions that samsung CHG has some issues with freesync on nvidia.
Also -That ultrawide LG and 16:9 Asus VG279Q are the ONLY 1080p 144hz ips monitors.
If I've missed some models, please advice

The Asus VG279Q looks very promising. But the lack of reviews worries me. Usually, when there's no reviews, it can mean the vendor of the monitor doesn't send review samples to reviewers, meaning they might not want reviews, meaning they're expecting them to not be good :P

The monitor is new. It's the first IPS gaming of this type.
Would be a nice solution to an all in one (games, console games, movies, photo editing).

If people show interest it will probably get to some website's list.
I made a suggestion to get votes on RTings for a monitor when it seems interesting. Didn't prosper.
Anyway, I voted for VG279Q. If people are interested it will get up in the table.
