MS Edge shutters..

Post by gganjang » 29 Nov 2023, 22:44

I didn't want to bring another shutter question, but couldn't find any satisfying answer here.

On my tests, MS Edge is always stuck at 60fps though I checked and tried all tips at viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3549 (e.g. hardware acceleration, monitor refresh rate, etc..) while Chrome and firefox shows 144fps well.

I think Edge is supposed to show 100fps according to https://www.testufo.com/browser.html (Please let me know if I'm wrong)

Are there any other shutters on MS Edge that I didn't notice?

The new Edge now supports 480Hz+

Edge should work with GPU acceleration enabled, check edge://gpu
Please post a screenshot of edge://gpu

Also for other readers who google this thread; make sure Control Panel has configured your Display to 144 Hz:
Oh No, I Am At The Wrong Refresh Rate!

Obviously, if Chrome is detecting 144Hz (even if Edge is not), you're already at the correct Hz and it's Edge's fault.

here's my screenshot of edge://gpu though I checked it already.

If you need further details, I will try to attach the whole report file here.

Problem solved.

I was turning on 'Vulkan" as graphics backend option in "edge://flags"

As soon as I turned it off, the edge started to show 144Hz

Yes, Vulkan isn't yet fully VSYNC ON optimized quite just yet. It has an internal 60Hz simulated refresh cycle timer.

Please report this issue at Chromium Bug Tracker.
