UFO Test SYNC FAILURE

Hello. I have got a Viewsonic XG2530.
Whenever I try to do UFO Test, I always get sync failure. The frame rate goes around 235-239. However if I open a game in the background, the test syncs to 240.
If I set my monitor to 144hz, it syncs even if I don't open a game in the background. There is just some potential browser stutter.
I tried different browsers like opera etc. but none of them worked.

Hmmm. That's interesting.

It's a web browser issue in this particular case.

Often the CPU/GPU automatically goes into power management mode, saving electricity power but making TestUFO too inaccurate to synchronize to 240Hz. The timer granularity during low-power mode may be accurate enough for 144Hz but not always for 240Hz. TestUFO uses less than 1% of a CPU nowadays, which actually some times interferes with its ability to stay smooth (ironically).

Fixing this may be a simple matter of setting CPU to 100%, unless it's a GPU power management behaviour.

I might have to make an optional option to make TestUFO more complex to increase more CPU/GPU to make it sync properly. (ironic!)

Hi I know this is an old thread. But I have the same issue as OP. And its not a browser issue limited to one browser. Chrome, Edge and Firefox all return the same

SYNC FAILURE:
Unable to VSYNC. Try closing all apps and browser tabs.

I7 9700K
GTX 1080 ti
Acer 240hz 1ms monitor
LG 144hz 1ms monitor.

Issue remains with GSync on and off. I am guessing no solution is coming since I am necroing an old thread?

This is usually because something is wrong with your computer system or operating system issue -- it only affects less than 5% of users that is unfixable.

1. Try the suggestions in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3549

2. If fail, try screenshotting www.testufo.com/animation-time-graph.
Sometimes I've helped someone fix it (e.g. disabling crappy RGB controller software which can add lag).

Hi, I just built a brand new PC, and have been having these exact problems. I've already done the basics, like check my refresh rate, and everything in this thread. I've also uninstalled all my RGB software, yet these problems are still happening. I'm worried this might be affected my gaming experience.

Did you exit Task Manager too and other CPU monitoring utilities? (including those that displays statistics on separate/tiny screen)

What effect does using CPU monitoring utilities, which cause such stutters every second, have on a system, except appearing in UFO tests?

I want to display some temperatures in the system tray, therefore have constant monitoring. How bad is this for my system?

You can sometimes solve it by lowering the CPU/thread priority of the monitoring software. When I set Task Manager to a Low Priority, it actually stops interfering with my TestUFO.

CPU monitoring utilities at same priority (Normal) can add an extremely tiny microstutter to some (not all) games. This may or may not be important, depending on how esports-competitive you are.

At 60fps 60Hz and 16.7ms of blur, those 1ms spikes were just pretty much unimportant. But in today's 240fps 240Hz with a 0.5ms MPRT strobe backlight, those 1ms spikes MAY occasionally show up as a once-a-second ultra-microstutter.

Solution: For computers with permanent monitoring screens, run those utilities at lower priorities, no higher than "Below Normal".

You may wish to use "Process Lasso" app, which is gentler than Task Manager.

Guys, just enable hardware accleration when available in Chrome !
