Question display lcd led ips

Post by classicaran88 » 23 Mar 2025, 13:30

I have some consoles that I store, R36S and Powkiddy Q80, and they have an IPS LCD LED panel display. I have questions: if I store these devices for a long time (years or decades) without using them, do the LEDs and backlight on the panel weaken and lose performance even without use? Do the liquid crystals change and generate dead pixels and other problems on the LCD?

Here in my region, the temperature varies from 34 to 36C, with humidity ranging from 58 to 68%.

It really depends on the quality of components used and what condition they're stored in. No one can say for sure how long your displays will last, but given that average LCDs can last decades they should be ok. I've never heard of people having to use or turn on LCD screens every once in a while to increase the longevity of the display.

In my conditions mentioned above and an IPS LED LCD display stored without use for many years, is the tendency for the LEDs and backlight to weaken and lose brightness and for the LCD to develop dead and stuck pixels?
