Desktop BFI is useless on OLED it creates a weird flicker no matter the refresh rate that is totally unusable.

Use one of the other DesktopBFI forks, it flickers a lot less.Supermodel_Evelynn wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 20:12Desktop BFI is useless on OLED it creates a weird flicker no matter the refresh rate that is totally unusable.

Nah this is completely broken I am not talking about a flicker but a broken type of flicker and stutter that makes everything unwatchable and unplayable. None of the forks work on my XG27AQDMGChief Blur Buster wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 19:22Use one of the other DesktopBFI forks, it flickers a lot less.Supermodel_Evelynn wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 20:12Desktop BFI is useless on OLED it creates a weird flicker no matter the refresh rate that is totally unusable.
Yes it works on desktop like viewing videos but it does NOT work on video games thats where it gets broken
What we need is for Shader Glass app to get BFI function that would be the holy grail

When the hell will we be able to use the rolling scan CRT beam simulator with some sort of universal app like shader glass?
I keep hearing it's coming it's coming but nobody has yet made an app to use this except on some old emulator.
I want to use this rolling beam crt simulator for street fighter 6 on my 240 HZ OLED

Is this said to be coming? Being able to use it like that would be insane.Supermodel_Evelynn wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025, 19:07When the hell will we be able to use the rolling scan CRT beam simulator with some sort of universal app like shader glass?

Shader Glass App is our only hope

Evelynn shaderglass was updated 2 weeks ago with crt beam https://github.com/mausimus/ShaderGlass ... haderDef.h
Can you check that it works please

It does NOT work the Dev added it to presets CRT Beam simulator but he does NOT have a monitor beyond 60HZ as he lives in destitute and abject poverty he is using a 2004 Dell monitor VGA that is barely functional he found in a junk yard, so he added this for US to update and fix as he has noway of knowing how to tweak it without a 240 HZ monitor
From my understanding the Russians are bombing his home town so there is little he can do right now without our help
Re: Is there anyway for me to do 60 HZ BFI on my XG27AQDMG OLED Monitor?
Yeah, BFI on OLED is definitely a tricky subject — especially when it comes to gaming. Even the slightest bit of input latency or improper frame phasing can completely ruin the experience. It’s not just about flicker at that point — we’re talking full-on motion inconsistencies that make gameplay feel off or even unplayable.
That said, I still think it’s awesome that projects like these are emerging in the first place. The fact that people are even attempting CRT-style beam simulation or BFI workarounds on modern OLED panels shows there’s a real interest in preserving that old-school motion clarity.
Hopefully, with enough community input (and maybe some devs with access to high-refresh gear), we’ll eventually see a stable implementation that works not just on the desktop but in games too. Fingers crossed!

I have a paid open source bounty for this (Apache license, MIT license).Supermodel_Evelynn wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025, 19:07When the hell will we be able to use the rolling scan CRT beam simulator with some sort of universal app like shader glass?
(Apache/MIT = permissive commercial + permissive in virtually any open source project (even GPL2/GPL3).
If any software developer wants to do this, contact me by PM or via www.blurbusters.com/contact
Four figures $ if you're trusted/vetted
Must be Blur Busters Open Source Display compliant.
More info: www.blurbusters.com/open-source-display
Required skills: Windows Indirect Driver Developer Skills. (Because you can't use an app, it has to be a driver, to avoid the erratic flickers. There's some rather severe limitations to Windows.
