Re: G-SYNC Upgrade Board Giveaway - FIVE boards!
Hi, I'm Roger and I've been building computers for myself and my friends for around 8 years now. My first build was made by my uncle, he's the one who first got me into building computers. I'm currently a poor student so I can't really afford to build myself new rigs often. I just managed to save enough money for a new build recently after waiting over 4 years. My new build was great for a budget build, the holiday sales really helped out. I picked up an FX 8350, gigabyte UD3 rev 4.0, and I actually purchased an AMD 7850 when my budget fell short. However, once I came across Blur Busters I decided to sell my 7850 and scrounged up enough to purchase an nvidia card so I could signup on the forums and have a chance at using G-sync. Coming across Blur Busters was great for me, once I tried out the 248QE with LightBoost and vsync or excess framerates I realized why I always felt blind during movement on 60hz monitors. Switching off from a CRT felt so bad and now I know that it wasn't just me being picky. Before I got into building computers I mostly built RC cars and planes. I always enjoyed electronics and I'm currently going to college for computer science.
My favorite Blur Busters page is actually all of the FAQ pages because they're very extensive and cover virtually every question clearly. If I were to pick one FAQ page it would be the page that helped me set up LightBoost and answered every question I had about it. http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion- ... boost-faq/
What I will use G-SYNC for is competitive games and very GPU intensive games. V-sync creates too much input delay for competitive gaming and as much as I love LightBoost it causes plenty of stuttering in GPU intensive games that drop well below 100fps. Overall, I'm really into LightBoost and v-sync now and I can't stand motion blur so I will use G-SYNC in games where v-sync and LightBoost are not as good of options. I loved to play first person shooters before my previous rig became too ancient and I switched to a much hated 60hz LCD. I'm hoping to pick up on many of them now that I have a new setup and a great monitor. At the moment I'm leaning more towards non gpu intensive games such as mobas because I enjoy the motion clarity of LightBoost and I don't really enjoy the motion blur and tearing in games where it's not a good option. I would love to try G-SYNC as an alternative and really get back into FPS games fully enjoying them once again.

Any idea when winners will be announced? On vacation and away from my desktop! Have to manually check the website.

The second post says the winners should be selected within a week and the boards sent out by the end of the month. I'm not sure why that information's not in the first post but perhaps that's why you missed it?PoWn3d_0704 wrote:Any idea when winners will be announced? On vacation and away from my desktop! Yup. Youre correct, lol. On mobile using desktop forums, so that doesn't help either. Thanks a lot.

I thought this was clear in the first and second posts -- we've been running this the same way PcPer and a few other sites did. As posted, NVIDIA rules creates a necessary human decision about who's most qualified...SS4 wrote:Chief Blur Buster wrote:So is actually a competition on whos more qualified to get the boards? But yes, a random element is going to be needed since there is now so many qualified candidates!
Keep tuned -- winners are announced right after this weekend (Monday January 6)

Re: G-SYNC Upgrade Board Giveaway - FIVE boards!
Quick question:
do the G-SYNC kits come with a display port cable? (Either in this giveaway, or if I buy a kit when they are available)
I ask this because
1. I know G-SYNC requires display port.
2. Currently I'm using 2DVI connectors and 1 HDMI for my set up of 3 monitors, and want to switch the HDMI to displayport ASAP
(Since 60Hz is the most I can go with the HDMI)
If the answer is no I'll buy a display port cable tomorrow, otherwise, I'll hold off so I don't have MORE redundant cables.

Apparently the G-SYNC kit does come with a DisplayPort cable according to this thread. Here is the linked image gallery where the cable is seen inside of the box.joncppl wrote:Quick question:

Great question as I was about to order a $17 cable on Newegg. Not really a problem since I received a free $50 gift card from them, but this lets me get something else.
