Yes, I know, it's often easy to be OCD about OSD being incorrect with GPU scaling.

In other words... The GPU's already resized the image, so the OSD has no way of knowing, so it's not a bug -- just an annoying side effect. It's, you know, just metaphorically like resizing an image in Photoshop or other app -- often the information about the exact original resolution is now lost. All the photo viewer knows is the new resolution, not the original resolution. Same thing happens with the "GPU scaling" feature -- monitor doesn't know the original resolution anymore since it's already scaled before it goes down the video cable to the screen.

I have made a custom CRU profile for true monitor scaling for XL2546 for csgo resolutions 1024x768 and @ 240hz (you change the resolution to any 4:3 resolution in CRU - detailed resolution)
I've removed the possibility to use 1920x1080 @ 240hz because I simply don't need it. You can add it back if you need it. 1920x1080 @ 144hz is available.

I know how to make any resolution monitor scaled, I'm gonna write a little guide as soon as I find the time to do it.

with this monitor, monitor scaling is superior to gpu scaling in everyway.

Also for instant alt-tab / windowskey + D I recommend to use same resolution in windows as you have ingame. It can be painfully slow to change it every time when you go to game or quit the game and resume windows usage.

for this I think the best way is to use HRC - Hotkey resolution changer v.2.1

Link to the Custom Resolution Utility .bin file (study it and compare it to the default profile and you shall understand how easy it's to make true monitor scaling for any resolution.)

remember: only use this with XL2546. Other monitors require different timings.
remember2: when true monitor scaling is achieved with proper timings, you can't change the scaling mode in nvidiaCP (it's broken) and the best thing is that you use your monitors menu to select the scaling so you change the scaling mode even inside a match without disconnecting!

you gain a lot, this is "game changer" for anyone who play CSGO on a high level. (or any other fast paced fps game)
TRUE MONITOR SCALING means that you don't use your drivers control panel (nvidia control panel) to set your scaling (full, aspect, no-scaling) you use the monitors BUTTONS and therefore it's true monitor scaling. this is superior to GPU scaling in every way and hopefully I can wake up as many as possible to this fact.



with gpu scaling your signal will always be the native resolution then gpu scales it down to the resolution you are using ingame.

+snappier than gpu scaling
+faster and smoother than gpu scaling
+better for high fps gaming +240fps.
+no need for gpu scaling, less gpu usage for unnecessary things.

damn does that mean i played for years with gpu scaling on my 144hz benq?
also, fairly certain my viewsonic 144hz did display scaling via driver no extra steps, because i remember saying how good it looks even on 720p

yes you have if you have played any resolution other than native 1920x1080. (please correct me if this is nvidia specific problem, haven't had AMD card since HD6970)

Ultranoob here. I've been using CRU to get 'real' display scaling for 1280x960 in cs for quite some time but recently I wanted to try out playing in 1680x1050 instead.

Making a custom resolution for 1680x1050 works fine everywhere except ingame where the image becomes completely broken and messy. Lower resolutions with the same 16:10 aspect ratio works fine so I guess it has something to do with the amount of pixels but I have no idea really. I've tried removing or adding some lines of pixels but still get the same results. Anybody know how I could solve this? Thanks in advance.
