Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
By the way axaro1, is it just my imagination or does the FPS mode have less overshoot than the defaul racing mode? You mentioned in your settings before that you use FPS mode I'm just wondering if it's because of less overshoot.
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
I kinda stopped using FPS Mode except in games with dull colors such as R6s and CSGO.Anonymous125698 wrote: ↑14 Oct 2021, 05:53By the way axaro1, is it just my imagination or does the FPS mode have less overshoot than the defaul racing mode? I mainly use Racing mode and tweak Shadow Boost. Shadow Boost is the best way to reduce overshoot that I'm aware of (but this tweak works only with OD120, if you are with OD80 you won't notice any difference, this is because the response time tables for OD120 has dark transitions creating overshoot and shifting the black levels to a lighter dark removes a good amount of overshoot).
If you look at OD120 it has 2.5ms response times, which is quite good but the overshoot numbers are inflated by the 0 to 20 and 0 to 40 pixel transition.
Look at the transition from 20 to X, overshoot is extremely low.
By using Shadow Boost to 3 the transition from 0 to 20 (with 142% overshoot) starts behaving more like 20 to X since the starting dark level will be lighter than 0.

Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
I'm now confidently back to 235Hz OD100. I say confidently because inspired by axaro1's post above, I put the the shadow boost to 3 and it made the 235Hz OD100 even better. Plus there's something that happens in higher refreshrates I've noticed that the contrast seems to suffer the higher the refreshrate is. So with 235Hz and with shadow boost at 3 it doesn't look that washed out but with good response times.
I also don't play overwatch anymore or other competitive games so higher input lag doesn't make me anxious anymore.

It really does seem to my naked eye, that different game visual modes affect the response e.g FPS and RTS/RPG, like I can see it just by wiggling the mouse on a desktop and switching between the modes and the one that seems have best response time the RTS/RPG mode.
One thing I also feel between the different modes is that they have different amounts of input lag the RTS/RPG having the least amount of input lag based on my subjective testing. I'm very sensitive to input lag and I immediately felt that something was different with the RTS/RPG mode.

guys I play a lot of PUBG with this monitor and I realized that when I get FPS drops from 200 to 90/100 FPS when there are many players around, I feel dragging images along with a lag what could it be?
I'm used 280hz+120,Shadows Level 3

Do you keep Adaptive Sync enabled? the issue could be caused by overdrive scaling at lower fps (so lower refresh rates with Adaptive Sync ON).
Personally I use ELMB ON w/ Adaptive Sync OFF at 280hz if I can output 200+ fps or I just stick to OD120 and Shadow Boost 3 (and Adaptive Sync OFF).
280hz strobing is so goooood and the input lag penalty is not noticeable.

No, I don't use adaptive Sync I noticed that playing RED DEAD REMPTION 2 the same thing happens the game gets 80 FPS and doesn't get fluid with duplicated images when turning the screen quickly either.axaro1 wrote: ↑20 Oct 2021, 05:09Do you keep Adaptive Sync enabled? the issue could be caused by overdrive scaling at lower fps (so lower refresh rates with Adaptive Sync ON).

Is default Racing Mode, OD120, Shadow Boost 3 the way to go? I can easily maintain 200+ fps in the games I play. Does changing brightness level affect anything? Any possible tweaks to do in the settings when using Racing Mode or is default fine? I don't really like the "Warm" preset that comes with Racing Mode.axaro1 wrote: ↑20 Oct 2021, 05:09Do you keep Adaptive Sync enabled? the issue could be caused by overdrive scaling at lower fps (so lower refresh rates with Adaptive Sync ON).

I use Racing Mode with Rtings' ICM profile : https://www.rtings.com/images/reviews/m ... rofile.icm , for RGB I should use the recommended values (97-100-95) but I use 97-100-97 because white shades looks slightly better on my unit with these values.rm7933 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2021, 15:05Is default Racing Mode, OD120, Shadow Boost 3 the way to go? Generally using someone else's ICC/ICM profile is better than not calibrating at all, it might not reach perfect delta values like if you calibrate your own unit but it's still better than not calibrating at all.
Changing the brightness has no effect on motion clarity.

Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
So, is 280HZ OD120 and every syncs off BEST for games like CS:GO,Valorant where i can reach easily 400fps ?
