New monitor to replace Alienware AW2518HF for FPS games

Post by Caronizeeee » 14 Jun 2023, 21:05

Sorry for my English :(

Guys, I would like to upgrade my Alienware AW2518HF (Freesync), as I know there are many better monitors on the market today, and this is one of the first 240hz panels, I feel blur on its screen, even in FPS games. I currently only play Valorant, but from time to time I play games like Fortnite, PUBG, but in the background. I have a bit of blur sensitivity, I think my Alienware has quite a bit. But in my country I have few options like the XG2431 and the Benq XL2546K costing almost the same (The XG2431 I found a little cheaper) and the XL2566K that was just launched here being twice the price of the XG2431. It also has options like Alienware and other rebrands that I'm not taking into account very much. I've seen some reports of players finding the XG2431 a little slow in games like CS GO, is that true? Would the BENQ's be much superior to the XG2431? I can also find the used Acer Nitro 390hz from time to time, for a very similar price, but it seems to have a lot of blur in the image. Another point that sometimes I'm on the back foot is upgrading a 240hz panel to another 240hz, even though I know I'll have gains with that. What would you do if you were me? Thank you all.

According to RTINGS, the Input Lag with BFI of the XL2566K is 3.9ms against 2.9ms of the XG2431, does this mean that the XG2431 is smoother and more responsive or is there another measure other than that? Is the XL2566K overall much better for competitive FPS than the XG2431? Is the Dyac+ of the XL2566K much better than the PureXP+ of the XG2431?

Ya it is probably close to true but, some people obsess over the input lag a little too much. I would doubt any mortal human being can tell a 1ms difference in input lag between monitors. Ive used both the XL2566k and XG2431. Both were good. I would argue the XL25466k is just way overpriced. Dyac is great because it doesnt lose brightness. I didnt care for the purexp on the XG2431 myself because it was pretty dim.. Almost $700 after tax for the XL2566k is just too much. I would pick the XG2431 personally. But if you want strobing, the XL2566k has better strobing.

Masterblaster, thank you very much for your report on the two monitors. Here in my country the XL2566K is very expensive, more than twice the price of the XG2431, I don't think that the Dyac+ compensates the cost over the XG2431, what do you think? My only fear of picking up the XG2431 is that without strobing it will be too similar to my AW2518HF, in case I don't want to use strobing for some reason. Could you say something about that?

Without strobing, is the XL2566K much better than the XG2431? Both with strobing turned off.

Thank you very much

I have the option of getting the Acer Nitro 390hz. There is only one being sold used in my country. But he has a single dead pixel that came from the factory and according to the seller they didn't appear anymore and it hasn't gotten worse since he bought it a year ago, he even sent me a video. The dead pixel doesn't appear in all colors of the LCD Tech test, only in some, is this normal? I don't know if that could be a problem, or if I could live with it. The monitor is still under warranty, but as it is out of stock, I don't know how I could exchange it in case of any problems.

The XL2566k is only better if youre using dyac. The XG2431 is the better monitor if youre not using strobing. And like less than half the price...

There is ZERO reason to buy the XL2566k if youre not going to use dyac. Its just a fast 360hz TN panel for $700 at that point. The Acer 390hz monitor is better than the XL2566k without strobing.

Hello Masterblaster, thank you very much again. Is the XG2431 better without strobing than the XL2566K in what sense? In colors you say?

Me personally replaced 2518HF for a VG259QM and im satisfied. And my friend who got my 2518HF is satisfied too, upgraded for nearly free from 144Hz old crap. The only issue of 2518HF was one scratch in corner (from knife - not in csgo but close...), and a bit blurry whiteflick from below but not too massive. More important issue was that i didnt see opponents properly as the vg259QM at 80 percent brightness in ccsgo with ulmb feels like the 2518HF at full brightness (+ maxed all settings like nvidia vibrance etc.).
