Sirius, now you have the Acer xv27? How is it for Apex?
It's clear, the black EQ implementation is good but not better compared to Zowie implementation.

The Overdrive is a little bit controversial,

OFF = too much blur and latency
Normal = Not that smooth but better ghosting handling
Extreme = Super responsivness but a lot of overshoot ( i prefer this mode )

I don't play in 1440p on it but in stretched 1080p, it's very clear, it's not the most fluid screen but for the price I couldn't find better.

However, it has a defect, for the profiles, if you saturate the colors, it goes saturated for ALL the profiles, which is not optimal but I don't saturate much so it's fine.

The colorimetry for me is almost perfect, after all it has a quantum dots filter and my eyes appreciate it.

Currently I got and test an XL2746S, it looks pretty good.

1. I see you have a long and respectable road on the monitor path. Including the VG259QM.
I am curious: Did it had the Qisda panel?
Yes it was not a cakewalk, don't know but i've had 4 of them and all looks pratically same with horrible colors accuracy and overall i didn't like this monitor at all, really i didn't know how people can play with this screen.
2. I see you went back to 1080P ( just like me, tried the P27AQN for a week )
Do I understand correctly u went back to the XL2546K?
Why you went back to 1080p ? For me it's mainly because the RTX 3070 is not sufficient even in low to do 240fps constantly in 1440p, in 1080p too but it goes up instantly during drops.
No, actually I have an XV272UX 1440P IPS Quantum Dots 270hz (which I block at 240hz because the 270hz overclock mode I find it useless) and I stay in 1080p stretched full screen, with Acer's super sharpness mode it's sharp and not weird like on Alienware for example.
I sent back the XL2566K and the XL2546K because they had coil whine and it bothered me (I had 3 XL2566K and 3 XL2546K) and all had it.
I have an XL2746S in test (an old Zowie) and strangely, no coil whine on this one, bad QC on the recent Zowie maybe.

3. My top 3 for Apex is: ( for now)
Mine is
1. VG259QM with the Qisda panel
2. XL2566K ( but not really worth the money)
3. XL2546K
For me you mentioned two monitors incompatible with me on Apex (the first two), the XL2546K was very good for Apex, the XL2566K are useless for Apex because it is limited at 300FPS, i've make a custom 240HZ/240FPS res with CRU and cap with RTSS but I did not find it so good, especially for the additional price, but for another game i'm sure that the XL2566K are probably very good !
And for the Asus, well I'm afraid I can't be objective, I really don't like this screen and it doesn't benefit me.

Personally I don't have a top for Apex, I base myself on too many things when I choose a monitor.

Ty for the answer!
I sold my XL2566K then bought the PG27AQN, tested it for a full week, then returned the PG27AQN, for a full 1300 euro refund cause there are no custom resolutions possible on 360 hz (2304 x 1440 that is the equivalent res as 1728 x 1080 on 1080P) and the screen darkens allot with ULMB2 ( Dyac is way better cause it stays bright). Now I have the VG259QM (with the right panel) for 130 euro second hand, thats literally 10 times less the price then the PG27AQN here in W Europe. The VG259QM feels very good in my main games Apex Legends on 180 fps locked and Quake Live. ( even if u don't look at the low price)

If you bought 4 new panels in 2021 and above chances are high those screens had the AUO panel and not the Qisda panel. See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7414&start=590 why that is a bad panel

DO NOT BUY ANYMORE ! Asus is using lower quality display panels in more recently produced units while still using the exact same model name. In my opinion this is customer deception by ASUS.
I contacted Asus customer support, they said this is "normal" and if I'm not happy with the panel, I just have to return it to the reseller.
Poor resellers just selling the units Asus delivered them ... how rude from Asus !
When I insisted at Asus customer support, they said it is due to the chip shortage. What, well Asus, just don't sell the panel anymore! Or use another model number or revision number or whatever.
When I insisted again at Asus customer support, they said my first panel came from the NL while the second came apparently from CZ ... how can that be a differentiator ???

My first panel VG259QM was bought from a NL reseller.
I bought my second panel of the Asus VG259QM two weeks ago on amazon.de.
Very disappointed, the quality of the display panel is much lower then the one I purchased about 1 year earlier.
There is ghosting and tearing on the same settings.
The colors are inaccurate way off, after hours of testing, there is no possible setting to match the same color and brightness as the first screen.
The most annoying for daily use is the yellow in the panel which is overdominating.

There are still plenty of good reviews for the VG259QM on the internet.
I guess Asus just keeps using the same model name and number just to keep selling this for max profit.
Again, in my opinion this is customer deception by ASUS.

I did buy VG259QM yesterday and it was amazingly crap. I did compare it to X25 f - severe ghosting, washed out colors, 2 dead picels, bad ips glow, loose panel frame...

As someone said earlier: DO NOT BUY ANYMORE! If you find new or used one with Qisda then maybe buy.

Panel type AUO M250HAN01

Do I miss my XL2566K now? No not at all. Pretty happy with my new purchase for that low price. Plus I want that feeling out of my system that I did not missed out on any experience on the different monitors that pro players still uses till this day to see what suits me best. Apex feels very good on the VG259QM. Better then on the XL2566K to be honest, but could be a honeymoonfase. If I would try a other monitor now I would buy XL2546K again but not more then 230 euro second hand.

I personally will not have fun trying to find the right panel, I have already forgotten the VG259QM for a long time, it would be interesting to talk to Rtings about it but I doubt that they will test the QSIDA panel.

It may be better (and besides I think it will be very easy to do better than the ultra disgusting AUO panel) initially on the VG259QM.
After all, their saturation and their black EQ has Asus is not the best implementation, at least with my own eyes.

After all anything 280hz or OC mode I don't care I mainly play Apex Legends and looking for a factory native 240hz even with 280hz > 240hz QFT CRU I'm not a big fan, and I try if possible to stay in 27 inches if I can, after that doesn't surprise me, especially for Apex, the XL2566K is absolutely not a good choice and a good value for money, if you do a custom res with CRU in 240hz/fps yes, but personally I'm not too interested on that, and it's like you, I no longer want to buy something supposed to be future proof, no, I want to buy something that corresponds well to the present moment with my machine, that's why I don't play in 1440p anymore.

I currently have the XL2746S for testing, it's 1080p 240hz but at 27 inch and before buying that I spitting on the 1080p 27 inches because it was too blurry, etc.
Well I'm just shocked, this one is necessarily less detailed but is not illegible, I think especially because the sharpness management and the anti-reflection treatment at Zowie is better than Alienware (because I had already tried 27 inches 1080p before but it was on Alienware and I found it infamous, like Dell.)
And for Apex, you are 27 inches so you can see very well but while having 1080p 240hz DyAc+, clearly with 1080p you have incredible performance, the DyAc+ on this one works very well and is very bright, on the other hand if you want to photoshop or do some color or detail precision, it's clearly not the one to take but in office automation, I make a specific profile (less saturated, softer) it's fine! (but like some TN, some smearing when you scroll text.)

Hello,

I hope you can help with some suggestion and perhaps we can bust some myths about which monitor is better.

My Specs: rtx 4070, i7 13th Gen, 32.0 GB RAM and i mostly play Apex legends.

I am looking to buy a new monitor, with fast response time and less ghosting. Motion clarity and responsiveness is what i would go for without the use of Motion Blur option, since it works best with stable fps games, which Apex Legends isn't.

Resolution, i would go for 1080p because after i tested 1440p even with better quality and visuals, i feel that it not as suitable for me on competitive gaming as 1080p.
Refresh rate i would stay on 240 fps, since my GPU can handle it.

I have been doing research on three monitors so far:
- Asus Rog Swift PG259QN 24,5
- Dell Alienware aw2518h
- Benq Zowie xl2546k.

I only tested the Zowie so far, but that was when i had an rtx 3060 GPU, and i couldn't stay at 240 fps constantly. but even when capping the fps at 144 fps there was stuttering and lag.

I would really appreciate your suggestions regarding which would be the best or the right (balanced) monitor for a game like Apex Legends.
It doesnt have to be from the list above, it can be any suggestion.
Hopefully this will help me or someone else decide what will work best for this scenario.

Thank you in advance!
So Jhaeva, what do you pick ?
