I recently bought some new parts for my pc and kept some of the older ones, basically just the case, the RAM, the drives, the peripherals and the monitor stayed. Here is my current built:
CPU - Intel Core i7-11700KF 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler - Corsair iCUE H60x RGB ELITE 47.73 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z590 AORUS ELITE AX ATX LGA1200
Storage - Samsung 980 Pro 250 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME
Memory - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL15
Video Card - XFX Speedster QICK 319 Ultra Radeon RX 6750 XT 12 GB
Case - NOX Hummer ZN ATX
Power Supply - Corsair RM850x (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX
Monitor - BenQ XL2411 24.0" 1920 x 1080 144 Hz
Everything went smoothly with the installation, thanks to countless videos and wikis, I had no problem setting it up. I bought a new SSD m.2 and installed the system there. Then I connected the old drives and wiped them clean. But then I stumbled upon a slight issue. I realized my monitor, listed up there, can only support 144 hz with a DVI-D cable, and only 60 hz through the HDMI cable. My brand new RX 6750 xt lacks a DVI-D connection, it only has DP and HDMI. So I resigned to 1080p 60 hz using an old HDMI cable I had laying around until I can scrap some money together for a 1440p 144 hz monitor.
The thing is, I am having some issues with the smoothness. Coming from 144 hz, I understand I would need to lower my expectations, but this is something else. Browsing reddit my mouse feels sluggish. Moving the mouse from side to side of the taskbar in Windows feels like my monitor has 20 fps. And playing fast paced games feels impossible. Camera movements make fps drops (?). And I get green lines in the screen while loading in game sometimes.
I have all my drivers up-to-date, even the mouse ones. I installed AMD Adrenalin and tried to tweak some parameters, adapting the resolution to 1080p 60hz in both AMD and the display settings in Windows, but to no avail.
Can the 60hz and the HDMI cable be causing that much of an issue or can the root be somewhere else? Can I mitigate the effects? 60hz shouldn't feel this bad
Thanks
Can HDMI cause mouse stutter?
