I have VG259QM for 2 years, but I have never made any elaborated tuning before. I once tried increasing the overdrive to 80 and 100 and had an incredible ghosting problem, (actually it was not ghosting, I think it was what you call overshooting). However, I've just turned off elmb and adaptive sync and increased the overdrive to 100 and overshooting has gone now.
I have 6900 XT and 5800x3D and get 180-270 fps in Warzone and Modern Warfare III. (It's depending to maps and modes).
I guess increasing the overdrive to 120 is only recommended for those who can constantly get 280 fps in games, right? However, I wanted to increase overdrive to 120 to experience how it feels. But when it's overclocked to 280 Hz, the overdrive text becomes inactive. When I turn off the overclock it's switching to 60 Hz and I am being able to edit the overdrive and see it as 120. I don't know what is going on, pictures are below.
Everything aside, is it necessary to overdrive to 120 for someone who gets 180-270 fps? If not, what settings do you recommend? My goal is to be as competitive as possible.
I've read at least half of the 67 pages, but I'm still confused. I will be very very appreciated if you help me.
Also another question: Is "game visual" setting provides only a color change? I switched to FPS mode but somehow it doesn't satisfy me as racing mode did, everything is too saturated regardless reducing the saturation.

So no answers at all?

There is no reason to tweak overdrive to be competitive. It doesn't affect input lag.

I don't know. Probably an urban myth that makes people believe overdrive has an impact on input lag. It improves pixel response time, but pixel response time is not something that affects input lag in a meaningful way.
An overdrive level that has the least amount of ghosting. What settings are the best for competitive fps gaming then?

Chief Blur Buster wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 13:49Sometimes, in certain cases, more overdrive artifacts becomes like a tracer bullet feature, if you're a stationary camper.
This is a very unique use case, very specific competitive advantage where you're very stationary (camping sniper) and use the overdrive artifact feature to quickly detect motion on the screen (e.g. moving camouflaged enemy).
The super-blatant overdrive artifact spikes suddenly and you see the enemy quicker in a stationary scene, because you've got exaggerated motion artifact from the overdrive.
That's why BenQ uses extremely strong overdrive (AMA Premium). Some esports snipers love this feature as a 'motion tracer' feature.
However, super-excessive overdrive can be very distracting if you do any strafing/turning, as the whole screen all goes semi-kaleidoscope of bright-fringing or dark-fringing or both.
Also, overdrive can indirectly affect human perception of lag, depending on how quickly the human reacts (or gets distracted) by the overdrive artifacts, which is like an earlybird signal of motion -- which can be used to advantage (motion tracer feature) or disadvantage (distraction).

There is no way to use the monitor at 280hz in 10 bits then, right?
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
Appreciate the help. @RealNC
But I would like to know why did @axaro1 suggest that overdrive value too many times.

Hello, if it’s not difficult, tell me the best settings for 240 Hz and 280 Hz, I’ve been trying to set up the monitor for about a month and I don’t understand how it’s more convenient for me and what to get used to. Settings are needed to play Valorant, FPS is on average 200-300. Sorry, if not everything is clear, used the translator.

OD120 is a good overdrive, it pushes the panel to its limit without causing much overshoot, especially if paired with Shadow Boost lvl2/3 (check out "Manipulating Shadow Boost to decrease overshoot with OD120" in the first page of this thread).

I'm using overdrive on 120 I guess, still not sure. (I explained my situation a few messages ago) But what does "pushes to its limit" mean? I think It basically means that we see the pixels very earlier, isn't? If it's something like that, it's something we have to do for gaming, am i wrong? Otherwise there is still a bit of overshoot there and if it doesn't give any advantage for FPS gaming, there is no point to do that. Because even when I am scrolling this page, I can see some overshoots and it's kind of disturbing.
