How to decide between 1080p 360Hz and 1440p 240 Hz?

Everything about displays and monitors. 120Hz, 144Hz, 240Hz, 4K, 1440p, input lag, display shopping, monitor purchase decisions, compare, versus, debate, and more. Questions? Just ask!

I had a 280hz tn for the longest time, I then purchased the 360hz Alienware ips. Coming from a Csgo standpoint yes the latency is prob faster but good god the blur feels awful on the 360hz.
How come the blur is worse on the 360hz panel?

Which game(s) you play and can you reach 360 FPS?
Two types:
- the first is games like Squad, DCS, MSFS and ACC. None of them can reach 360fps and even 240fps is far fetch.
- the second are games like CSGO, AC and BMS. They can reach high fps like 240fps and maybe 360fps.

It really does seem to be a "pick your poison" sort of scenario, since there is no single monitor that is the be all end all. It is tough to make a good decision when you don't have hands on experience with different resolutions or refresh rates.

Edit: Maybe a monitor to check out would be the MSI Optix MAG274QRX. Looks like a good balance of features for the money.
I'm not competitive, I just want CRT clarity and OLED quality.

I wonder if the slower MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD is not better than the MAG274QRX for me. The strobing is apparently much better on it so the question is 120fps strobed vs 240fps. Considering the quantity of games I can run at 120fps (with my 3060ti) vs 240fps, maybe it's a better bet?
It's certainly very possible. See if you can find the monitors on Rtings.com, and check the BFI screenshots, if they have them, and compare. What kind of FPS do you get in Squad with the RTX 3060 Ti?

1) Different panel (one is TN, the other one is IPS) and therefore, different pixel response times. Historically, TN panels are faster than IPS one. But fast-IPS is closing the gap with TN.

2) Additionally, the refresh window is shorter when refresh rate is higher (1/360 = 2.78 ms, 1/280 = 3.57 ms). Which means that to avoid merging of two images (resulting in blur), pixel transitions need to be faster in the case of 360 Hz than in the case of 280 Hz.

Depending on the map, 60-70...
