360hz with 120fps - advice

Post by machond » 08 Aug 2022, 19:17

Hi, I'm going to buy new monitor for gaming. Mostly FPS where I need to track with eye multiple targets from different angles. Dark environment in game. I have NVIDIA card rtx3070. I'm looking for any monitor which helps me with that task.

So in short:
  • eye friendly
  • no motion blur
  • no ghosting - sharp picture for good motion tracking
  • no huge input lag
  • Omen x25 - 240hz TN G-sync real Module
  • Acer Nitro XV252QF - 390hz IPS G-sync official compatible
  • DELL AW2521H - 360hz IPS G-sync real Module
  • DELL S2522HG - 240hz IPS G-sync official compatible
Which monitor buy If I cannot sustain stable fps. I know each of these screens has different technology for helping to clear view, but for my situation which one I should go.

I am very happy with my AW2521H unit. I use Gsync in places I do not reach the frame rates and I sometimes use ULMB@240hz (60 pulse width) only. I use this monitor competitively under ULMB conditions and Gsync under casual games.
Response time is excellent, colors are great (after tuning /w rtings ICC profile + calibration settings)
Maybe the only complaint is not being able to use a crosshair as the monitor doesn't offer it but we got other tools for that. (Reshade xhair/PlayClaw/Hudsight)

Otherwise, is 360hz worth it? eh idk not so much as you'd imagine but it is a step more clearer. But I actually found myself trying to use more blur reduction methods instead. If you can scoop a 1440p monitor (if you want to) at high refresh rate - would almost recommend that instead. I do miss my 1440p resolution for a daily driver. (its my secondary monitor now)

ULMB 240Hz needs stable 240 fps in game? What happens when fps goes down?
