Don't touch it unless you need it type of thing.

The scaling modes will scale based on what you set there, so in the case of you playing a game on a non-native resolution like a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution it would scale depending on the setting. Aspect Ratio would maintain the aspect ratio. Fullscreen would stretch it out, No scaling would put it in the middle or within the monitor's borders and not sure on Integer Scaling - haven't used it.

Perform scaling is best done on the GPU, some people argue the Display option has less input latency but I have found that GPU works better plus if you use Gsync or Freesync seems to work better for games to engage into the mode.

Resolution and refresh rate are for the first bunch of options to test. Never used "Size" portion, so can't say but that seems like the older problem of where the image didn't fit entirely into the monitor frame.
CPU: AMD R7 5800x3D ~ PBO2Tuner -30 ~ no C states
RAM: Gskill Bdie 2x16gb TridentZ Neo ~ CL16-16-16-36 1T ~ fine tuned latency
GPU: ASUS TUF 3080 10G OC Edition(v1/non-LHR) ~ disabled Pstates ~ max oced
OS: Fine tuned Windows 10 Pro, manual tuned.
Monitor: Alienware AW2521H ~ mix of ULMB/Gsync @ 240hz/360hz
