Hi I introduce myself , i'm Alpha Aquilae ( yes like the star ) and i'm very pernickety about color accuracy and motion blur handling, i have review a lot of monitors for competitive gameplay in Apex Legends and Call of duty and it's doesn't suit me at all, there is the list of what i've already had in the past :

LG 27GP850 27inch IPS 1440p 165hz

LG GL83A-B 27inch IPS 1440p 165hz

[ AOC ]

AOC 24G2U 24inch IPS 1080p 144hz

and I probably forgot a few other, so I think I can do a good review here after all I tried.

Today i wanted to put a review on the Acer Nitro XV272UX

[ Ghosting Performance ]

The motion handling of this monitor for an IPS panel are pretty damn good, even at this refresh rate i've never see that before, don't get me wrong, it's not that much different either like other 1440p 240hz but this monitor have the same panel like the Asus XG27AQM which gave me not the performance that i've wanted but here, the feeling are a little bit better for me.

With OD on OFF, Ghosting are clearly visible, on normal the ghosting trail are very little and it's buttery smooth, on the extreme mode it's clearly unplayable...ok....it's not horrible but on very very fast movement in Apex or Valorant you can see the inverse ghosting, i very didn't like the last OD settings ( like ALL monitors anyway )

So the normal mode is the best OD settings here and the feeling/input lag of this OD settings are pretty damn quick so don't worry about that ( tested with G-sync On and OFF ) oh and G-sync on ON stuck the OD settings on Normal.

We have also VRB ( 3 settings : off...i think you know what's happen here, normal which gave you a little strobing but with good brightness and extreme which gave you more strobe performance but with low brightness )

The best are the normal with like always on IPS monitor without blur buster utility some crosstalk but it's not that bad ! extreme mode are good too with like normal mode some crosstalk but it's clearlyt ok, if you play in dark room with ( 100 of brightness / 60 contrast and 10/10 of Black Equalizer )

Here is the link of ghosting ufo test ( in 270hz only...don't worry it's pratically the same like 240hz ) performance with ALL OD settings ( G-sync off ) and VRB mode too ( 270hz with normal OD ) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uC4BbR5LNc ( Check the timestamp for what you want ! )

[ Colors Performance ]

The colors performance on this Acer are incredible, anyway it's Quantum Dots AUO Optronics panel and it's saturated ( mostly on red ) and it's not a perfect red but it's not a strange Orange saturated which emulate red like some cheap IPS.
On some games it's vibrant and put the digital shine on Nvidia Control panel at 60 ( yes this screen does not have a color vibrance feature but don't worry here you don't need that )
I can clearly draw on this monitor and it's not a problem at all.

[ OSD/Comfort of use ]

This OSD are clearly not the worst because here we have a joystick but it's not perfect at all....
In fact there is a lot a bugs ( like, when you want to put 270hz with 10bits colors and G-Sync, you have several problem, why ? because this screen does not accept 270hz and G-sync at the same time, only 240hz maximum )
You have also a software Acer Widget Display which are....good and bad...bad because when you want to set few settings on some profile the software spank you and say NO, but i have the solution, you MUST launch the software go to your monitor settings physically and make profile on monitor before and save the profile on monitor ! strangely after that when you change the mode on the software he save the profile correctly...

We have gamma control, black equalizer, VRB etc

The osd may not be perfect but it is complete!

[ Conclusion ]

This is a pretty good monitor, at only 520 euro where i'm, it's really good and it can be at 400 euro sometimes, for the price is clearly the best right now, same panel as the Asus XG27AQM which offer very good input lag and good motion handling, ok the OSD and some things are not perfect but hey, you come here for the best value, it can't be perfect ( of only.. )

Both of Asus XG27AQM and this Acer are good but honestly i prefer this Acer.

I hope you enjoy this review :D

The deal breaker with that monitor is the fact that overdrive is locked when G-sync is enabled. The normal overdrive is tuned for 270hz. At around 144hz and below, the normal overdrive has a ton of overshoot. This makes single player games and other very demanding games unplayable.

Very true. If I'm not mistaken Acer locks overdrive for VRR on all monitors. Not sure why tho because there is no need to. Manufacturers do same mistake for strobing. Gigabyte now seems to be the only one who keeps overdrive always modifiable.

I've got the Acer Predator XB273UGX but I'm wondering what's different between these monitors. In my country the Predator is 100€ more expensive although the specs seem to be the same.

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I haven't seen any annoying overshoot issues on solo titles even in G-Sync below 270hz/fps.

I approve, Acer does it, personally I don't find it annoying on this monitor

I was wondering the same thing but since the Predator costs more and has a "gamer" design, I preferred to take the Nitro.
