oh actually V range 48hz-285hz made the thing also. No flickering? could it make some harm if I go over the advertised v range. Im going to do frog later since it needs some focusing from me, Im new to hobby and the terms in english are not so well known for me while english isnt my main language.

Is there any test to make sure Freesync is really working?

Edit. still flickering, I think 279hz is way to go

Ok, no worries. Take your time.

My VG279QM had out of range issue with factory OC 280Hz when I plugged it into my friend's pc with different gpu. With my old RX 580 it worked fine while with his RX 6500 XT didn't. I managed to fix it with custom 279.50 Hz resolution. 279.51 was already enough to get it out of range. Don't know why. Same with my M32Q, never flickered with RX 580, and after upgrading to 6650 XT it started to flicker alot with factory OC 170Hz on desktop. Weird.

Are you on AMD gpu?

To test if VRR is working use the instructions from earlier.

Yes 6900XT/5950X with waterblocks. Now after resetting it to 48-280hz and restart -> no flickering. I really dont know what is going!

That is weird. I had similar situation with VG279QM. First 270 OC didn't even work on 6500 XT but later it broke through. After that I gradually increased it to 279.50 Hz max.

Maybe there was some driver level glitch that went away after those changes and then back to max 280hz

VG258QM left, X25 f right

Both displayport copied image

Here is photo taken from iphone 240fps slowdown, opened with VLC media player and slowed down even further to so slow that i can see frame by frame. Both set 240hz, adaptive sync off, both on best OD recommended. I did same test with 58qm 280hz and X25 f 240hz result same. It isnt placebo, Asus has lower inputlag. I do later test so I turn off Vividpixel and Sharpness.

Retested sharpness settings off and Valorant. Same result. I can feel the difference so I bet it is more than Rtings results 2.4ms vs 2.6ms

Yeah sure, but with my shaky hands and smartphone :D. Its as good as it is. Maybe these helps a bit!
That will do the job. Thank you for doing these. I added them to database.

So Asus locked overdrive but not to aggressive level like on '9QM. Here it's the other way around, with not enough overdrive. They really don't know what they're doing hh.

For ELMB SYNC testing download latest version of Smooth Frog. Enable ELMB SYNC and Adaptive-Sync within OSD and inside nvidia or amd panel. Open Smooth Frog and quick test if VRR is working by using FPS Counter within monitor OSD, through Game Plus features. FPS should vary up/down as you change FPS limit slider in program.

In Smooth Frog leave vsync enabled for stability reasons. Use default pattern (Frog Pursuit, a bit bigger pattern than testufo) and stay inside pixel/frame panning type. Enable PCST (Sync Track) in menu (or with mouse wheel click). Now it will be best to do 280, 120 and 60 fps pursuits. Adjust panning speed until it reaches approximately 1440pps. Each framerate requires pixel/frame change. For 280 FPS it should be 5 pixels/frame (5*280=1400pps), for 120 its 12 pixels/frame (12*120=1440pps) and for 60 its 24ppf. Now do pursuits normally as you do. To start/stop panning use space key.

In the end it should look something like this. When I was doing these Smooth Frog didn't have proper Sync Track, but now it does.

Extra tip:
See if your camera can adjust shutter speed. For 280 use something closest to Hz/4 value. s1/70 for 280Hz, s1/30 for 120Hz, for 60 u can use s1/20 or s1/30 if your hands are too shaky.

Hopefully I didn't scare you with these instructions.
I did this and followed your instruction. ELMB Sync wasnt available on 280hz so I should do the test with 240hz, 120hz and 60hz. Panning speed as close to 1440pps as possible. FPS counter showed changing FPS/HZ so I assume it worked. My bad Iphone camera faced too powerful enemy and these pictures are bad, Im sorry I couldnt offer better images. Frogs hurt my eyes and anything below 200fps looked pretty stressful to my eyes.

After testing my recommended settings for gaming with this monitor are: 280hz, Adaptive sync On, Variable OD Level 3, CRU VRR range 48-279hz, FPS cap 275fps on Rivatuner/in-game

ELMB Sync on, clarity position middle, Brightness 20, Contrast 80, Racing mode

That will do the job. Thank you for doing these.

You managed to get good tracking accuracy for 240 fps shot.

Looks like '8QM is doing same devil's horns type strobe as '27/259QM. Btw you say clarity positon is middle, does this mean you can modify it with ELMB+SYNC enabled or only with ELMB (without sync)? Also what about clarity level? Is overdrive also modifiable or greyed out?
